        Hi,

This definitely isn’t a Theme issue, it has to do with your WordPress install/hosting. You’ll need to contact your Hosting company and ask them to adjust the settings in your account. It sounds like your site memory needs an increase…..which can be increased by your host. Or they may ask you to edit one of your WordPress installation files (not the theme files, but your WP files). I would make sure they due it though, as they should be able to fairly quickly.

We definitely don’t have any memory issues. I deactivated the WishList member plugin, and that took care of it. However, we have a paid license for the WML plugin and must be able to use it. It’s something about the way Epik interfaces with that plugin. Please advise!

“It’s something about the way Epik interfaces with that plugin.”

After looking at the Error and the code, that is something entirely different that is causing the issue. Epik doesn’t have anything to do with the error, the error is caused by the plugin, your WordPress install, or Hosting company. There isn’t any code inside of the theme that would interfere with it.

Since Epik is a child theme, it’s supposed to handle the design (on the outside). Child themes don’t really affect the backend/admin area. Genesis the Framework handles the backend/admin, but that doesn’t mean that Genesis is the issue either…..I just wanted to mention that it’s not a theme issue, it’s a plugin/WordPress/Hosting issue.

If you take a look at the Epik files and the code inside you’ll see there isn’t much but a stylesheet and functions file. If you copy/paste that error and do a Google search you’ll see a lot of other users who have had the same issue, and it’s mostly due to the way their hosting company has their WP/Site install setup and has nothing to do with a child theme from nearly every link I’ve looked at. Take a look at this link to see all of the other users on WordPress who have had a similar issue – https://www.google.com/search?q=Fatal+error%3A+Allowed+memory+size+of+33554432+bytes+exhausted+%28tried+to+allocate+1024+bytes%29&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Out of the thousands of posts here in this forum there has never been an issue like this with the Epik theme, which is another reason I’m sure it has to do with a separate issue/plugin not related to the theme.

Since this is a Third Party Plugin issue, you’ll definitely need to contact the plugin author/developer so they can assist in figuring out what’s going on. They would know what’s wrong with their plugin much better than us, as we can only assist with Genesis Themes here at this forum. I wouldn’t want to make guesses and lead you down the wrong path or anything 🙂 It’s best to ask them since they’ve most likely dealt with this plenty of times before.

You’ll also need to contact your host so they can pinpoint exactly where this issue is coming from and how it can be fixed (if the plugin developer is unsure).

Hopefully they have a solution, if they do, feel free to post here just in case anyone else runs into a similar issue in the future.

You were right! I have to eat crow. I was amazed that our memory was much lower than I assumed, based on my experience with this web host. Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it…
