Tagged: IE bug
We focus on B2B sector and unfortunately, almost all of our clients use IE. We are using Epik and quite satisfied with it, except for the problems depicted in the images below. One of the images called unnamed.jpg shows how the user is prompted to select in the pop window, if he should be opening only safe elements on the browser (that’s the translation from Russian). Also all the widgets are outside of the viewing area.
I see that image didn’t go through in the original post. Here it is again https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8CyZPeT7WfhQjJhSGFZODVYdjg&usp=sharing
Hello it’s been several days and I still haven’t gotten a response. I just wanted to see if it just fell through the cracks or maybe I did something wrong?
Probably just missed it by mistake. Also, most people here probably don’t have IE or access to it so it’s difficult to provide a solution sometimes.
I myself use a Mac so I have to rely on emulators, but they don’t work too well all the time.
Can you check to see if their demo itself works? If it does then that means that there was something added to your theme that is causing the issue.
Also keep in mind that most developers/companies support the later version of IE and not the older versions unfortunately due to the many issues that IE came with (that were never fixed).
Hello,
Are you suggesting that we should find a specific theme that works with IE instead of trying to figure what is the problem with how it appears and trying to fix it? I saw some posts https://appfinite.com/topic/epik-not-displaying-correctly-in-internet-explorer-11-64bit/ and https://appfinite.com/topic/problems-with-bottom-widget-area-on-legacy-theme-in-internet-explorer/
But I am pretty new to wordpress and unsure how to change the CSS and was unable to follow the instructions in those posts.
Maybe there is a way for us to look at the images that I provided here https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8CyZPeT7WfhQjJhSGFZODVYdjg&usp=sharing and figure out a way how to fix them?
Or even this instructions https://wordpress.org/support/topic/internet-explorer-issues-9, but I can’t find header.php in CSS
“Are you suggesting that we should find a specific theme that works with IE instead of trying to figure what is the problem with how it appears and trying to fix it?”
No I suggested to visit the demo on Appfinite’s demo page and see if you have the same issue with the Theme Demo link. If the same issue doesn’t happen then that means you may have added or removed something incorrectly which could be causing the issue.
Here is the link to the demo – http://demo.appfinite.net/epik/ Check it in your IE browser to see if the same issue appears.
Like Scooby I’m on a Macintosh, and so can’t view your site in Internet Explorer, but I can tell you that for many years Internet Explorer has been a major problem for web designers, going back to way before the days before people were using WordPress.
You might drive yourself crazy trying to get all aspects of your site to work correctly on IE, especially the older versions.
Microsoft decided to use their own “standards” with Internet Explorer, and never did get around to fixing all the problems that caused.
Hello,
You keep telling me something I already know. But there probably some things that could still be done, right? Certain things, that we could modify that could help. As I am waiting for the response from the person that took these print screens https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8CyZPeT7WfhQjJhSGFZODVYdjg&usp=sharing, does some solution come to mind? Something quick and easy to put in the CSS? For example to IE compatible as described here https://wordpress.org/support/topic/internet-explorer-issues-9. I just couldn’t find the referenced code in the CSS.
Yes I’m sure it’s possible to fix especially since the Theme itself works perfectly fine by default in IE. So if something was added to your site somewhere that is throwing everything off, then that needs to be found and corrected.
The hard part is figuring out where the issue is coming from exactly. I could make guesses of what to do, but that would be a shot in the dark and could take forever to figure out without an IE browser to inspect everything, and without access to the site and the code behind the site.
I mentioned the IE versions earlier, you would need to post the IE version that you or your clients are using, as that is important to know so that once someone can check your site they can report how it looks and some possible ways to fix everything.
Is there anyone out here that uses an older version of IE that can check if his site is showing up properly?
So you need the version of IE, the source code, screen resolution, what else?
