Hi there, after updating to WordPress 4.7 I have got a problem with the primary and secondary sidebar widgets appearing on the left of the pages where the sidebar was previously set to the right hand side.
These sidebars are also appearing on all the pages set to the default view.
I have noticed in the admin page edit, the page doesn’t have the graphical list of page layout options anymore
When i look in the Genesis settings I see that the default layouts options arent there anymore.
I have upgraded WordPress to 4.7 but kept Epik to an earlier version because of so many alterations I have done to the theme over time.
Can you help please?
no one come across this issue then?
I haven’t ran into an issue like that, I also don’t remember seeing anyone else have that problem either so I’m wondering what it could be. If I had to guess, it could be 3rd Party Plugins, or Custom Code that’s causing that to happen, but I’m not 100% sure just yet.
I’m running the latest version of WordPress as well as the latest version of the Epik theme here on the demo – http://appfinite.net/epik and everything is working as it should.
Is it possible to create a Temporary Login so I can take a quick look?
I spent a while looking again, searching through everything I could but was unable to find anything. It’s never happened on the sites I use Epik (including the demo) so that’s why I believe it must be another plugin or custom code added somewhere on the site.
BTW, the “Genesis Layout Extras” plugin you saw was the one I added in the other day. This wasn’t there before, I added it in to see if I could bring the Layout options back, but it didn’t work. Whatever is preventing the Layout Options from showing is also preventing it from working in this plugin as well.
The only thing I can recommend now is to deactivate all of the active plugins to see if one of them is conflicting with Genesis or not. You can either deactivate them one by one, or you could deactivate a group of them at a time to help narrow it down faster.
If there is anywhere else you can think of where there’s custom code added just let me know and I can take a look. The layout options should work fine, just need to find out where the issue is coming from.
URGENT! There seems to be something going on with the Hosting/FTP. When I tried to edit/save the functions file, it gave me this error –
Response: 552 Quota exceeded: [functions.php] won't be saved
Error: Critical file transfer error
Your functions file is showing up empty and it won’t let me edit or save anything through FTP.
Who are you hosted with? Can you ask them to revert to how everything was setup earlier today or yesterday (they should have Backups). They may also need to remove any limits (IF they have any) that is preventing me from making edits to the files. The theme is not showing up right on the site and the widgets aren’t available because of the functions file error above. Once it’s back working normally then I would be able to instantly fix it by resaving the file.
I’m able to upload new Themes through the WordPress admin, so I uploaded the new version of Epik and activated it for now. The older version is still on your site/list of themes, but the functions file isn’t working or saving (as mentioned above).
Let me know once you’re able to get the Backup restored.
Just got it working! – http://i.imgur.com/yHnNh05.png
When I was looking at your site yesterday, I activated the Genesis Sample theme, another Genesis Child theme, and the new version of the Epik theme all separately to see if the Layout options would appear and they didn’t show. So that let me know that Epik, and other Child themes aren’t what is causing the problem. I figured it was either a plugin, custom code, or the Genesis Framework itself.
I reinstalled a fresh copy of the Genesis Framework and it instantly started working again! So whenever you updated the Genesis Framework from your Admin, there was probably an interruption or corrupt file during the install. When this happens, a reinstall usually fixes it.
The only thing you’ll need to do now, is go through and Drag your Homepage Widgets back into place. They are currently in the Inactive section.
A thousand thank you’s Wes. I will check and do the work later on today. Massive relief.
