with regard to last message – Hi – I got slider gallery to work but how do I change the size and put the right widgets in like http://www.genuinekentucky.com/ – I wanted to have a small gallery – with a sidebar please – thanks! Heather
Are you using the slider that came with the theme, or the Genesis Slider?
If you’re using the Genesis slider, the width and height settings are on the Slider Settings page.
Hi – I don’t know how big to make the gallery to be compatible with photos – I got the prettyphoto plugin but seem to be using genesis slider – thanks – http://heatherhess.ca
I’m not sure what you are trying to do exactly…..You’re talking about 2 different things – Genesis Slider, and prettyPhoto
You can use whatever size you want for the photos. Most people use 960px wide photos since the theme is 960px. Take a look at the Legacy demo for an example.
hi – i am just trying to get a slider in place – i am confused – so i either use Genesis Slider or Pretty photo ?
I have also used wp cycle and liked it
do wp cycle – pretty photo and genesis slider all do the same thing – so I should just pick one of them ?
I like the way the slider is on this site – http://www.genuinekentucky.com/ – i found the link in your forum – how would I do a small slideshow like this with the column on the right and a small slideshow on the left
thanks
Heather
Hi – sorry for confusion – since I sent the previous msg I have decided to use genesis slider (which I know from a previous site). I also have prettyphoto and fancybox (I love the way fancybox displays photos).
What I need to know how to do is to have the right sidebar next to the genesis slider like http://www.genuinekentucky.com/
for some reason my sidebar is way down the page – is it enough for me to change the slider settings to bring the right column up next to the genesis slider.
thanks! Heather
The theme that you are referring to is a completely different theme than the one you are using. The layout of your theme wouldn’t allow you to have the slider with a sidebar next to it unless you redesigned and coded your layout to show up that way.
If you know php, you could look at your home.php file and add in a widget area. Then register the widget area in your functions file, then create css for the new widget area while adjusting the css of the slider area.
If you don’t know how to do all of this, you can always hire me or any Genesis Developer to do this all for you.
