Hello Wes,
Sorry to use the word URGENT. I’ve been troubleshooting some odd plugin conflicts with this website that started appearing in August. After running the debugger, I see this in the debug log:
[04-Oct-2016 02:00:32 UTC] We’re sorry, but your theme’s page template didn’t make a call to wp_footer(), which is required by NextGEN Gallery. Please add this call to your page templates.
To verify that I had a theme conflict issue, I switched the website to Twenty Sixteen. Sure enough, the issues went away. I then switched the Theme BACK to Optimal 1.2, but now the entire Theme appears broken. I cannot get the Optimal home page template to load. I even pulled down a back from up from July from my S3 account, and still no luck.
I even uploaded the original Optimal Theme files (from 2013) including home.php and functions.php, but that still did not fix the issue.
Specifically, the home page of the website is not displaying home.php, and the footer is a mess. I suspect if the call to wp_footer was corrected, everything else would fall into place. I plan to migrate them to Optimal version over the next couple of days, but if I can fix the Theme, that would at least get the client to step back from the ledge.
Is there a quick fix? Can you help?
Many Thanks!
fyi, the home page of Rocklands.com should look like this screenshot:

I’ve never seen that issue before. Are you using any Genesis plugins or any other type of plugins that might be interfering with the theme and gallery plugin?
If that doesn’t help, is it possible to create a temporary login so I can take a look?
Crazy huh?
I tried changing the name of the plugins folder to see if that was the case, but no luck.
Just sent credentials to appfinite@gmail.com
Username is Appfinite
Can you access those?
I’ve already started building out the new site at http://rocklands.com/dev/
but with the live site looking the way it does, it stresses everyone (me) to get the new site up asap.
I will turn on the debug log and send that to you shortly.
Thank you!
Quick question, why is the home.php file labeled “home-SAVE.php”? I’m not sure if that’s part of the problem or not, but WordPress will recognize home.php as the homepage by default. Is it possible to change it back? If you have FTP access, then I can do it for you if you want.
This is the only item turning up in the debug log. Disabled the NextGen plugin has no effect.
[06-Oct-2016 02:21:12 UTC] Sorry, but recursing filters on “the_content” breaks NextGEN Gallery. Please see https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/17817 and NGG_DISABLE_FILTER_THE_CONTENT

There is both a home-save.php and a home.php.
I created the SAVE version when I was pulling down backup copies of home.php, but they are exactly the file.
You’ll have to forgive me as I’m not familiar with the plugin or how it works exactly, but I activated the plugin and created a test page with a gallery here – http://rocklands.com/test/ ….but I’m not seeing any issues.
Is that what it’s supposed to look like?
It’s a simple image slider that appears on each of the Location pages, and the Catering page.
I’m fine to lose it, but deactivating appears to not make a difference.
Wes, please, don’t spend much time on this… I just thought you might see some immediately.
Ah, well if you decide to give it another try just let me know.
That’s weird that it would require something like that from the Child theme. Usually the Genesis Framework handles things like that (I would think).
You could also try testing another Genesis Child Theme to see if the same issue appears. If it does then that would mean something is conflicting somewhere externally. If it doesn’t then perhaps there’s something in Optimal causing the issue, and in that case I can take another look at it.
Well, I cloned the website into the /dev sub-folder and activated Optimal 1.5 and it’s working beautifully. None of the weird plugin issues or weird media library issues appear. And when I load Optimal 1.2 on the /dev site, all the problems reappear.
It’s just so bizarre by switching to another theme, and then switching back would have such a dramatic effect. How could home.php just not load?!?
Anyway I do appreciate you taking a look.
Thank you!
You’re Welcome!
