and yet another question (this 1question/1thread policy is gonna drive you nuts ๐Ÿ™‚ :

The fonts of this theme (and also the fonts from appfinite.com itself) vary when I browse the sites from my macbook (vs iMac), same browser Chrome!…question: how can I make it so that the fonts always look the same? aren’t the fonts here imported/loaded by Google fonts? Actually the fonts displayed on my macbook make the appfinite themes look way worse ๐Ÿ™ and it does make an impact on my choice.

(I’ve already read this thread on your forum:ย https://appfinite.com/topic/css-menu-settings-google-fonts/#post-2413 and I must say I’m currently working with another theme/framework with google fonts on a different domain and that doesn’t happen ๐Ÿ™

As already mentioned in the link you posted (not sure why you’re reposting the same question) but the answer is still the same. This theme (nor any theme) does not have control over the way Google’s fonts appear. As I said before, they are located on Google’s servers. The theme only links to those fonts on their servers. How these fonts appear on browsers are completely up to those browsers and/or operating systems. They ALL render the fonts in their own way. The only thing you could possibly do is try hosting the font yourself (still not a guarantee it will be the same)…..If you want to try hosting the font yourself to see if that works, then you can do a Google search to see if there are instructions on how to properly do it.

“this 1question/1thread policy is gonna drive you nuts”

The policy is in place to keep everything organized. If questions are organized then it is easy for people to respond, stay on topic and on track with each post. Having 1 topic per post is also good for others who are searching for similar questions. People would much rather prefer searching for an answer and finding it “post by post”…..rather than searching through a bunch of random off topic questions all inside the same post/topic (which is very unorganized…and very, VERY annoying). Most support forums function this way and share this same policy. StudioPress even has this rule as well.

“and yet another question (this 1question/1thread policy is gonna drive you nuts”

Honestly, if you plan to ask a lot of questions, then I would HIGHLY recommend hiring someone to speed up everything for you. This could all be finished for you in less than a day or two. Keep in mind, these forums are ran mostly by Wes who takes the time out of his day to answer nearly ALL of the questions by himself…..and there are a lot of people asking questions! It’s always good to be considerate of the other persons time (mainly Wes), especially since he’s doing this all for free.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t post questions (that’s what the forum is for obviously) I’m just saying this because I’ve seen some people misuse the forum (very demanding, high expectations, impatient and rude). The crazy thing about this, is that these same people are being paid by a client while the forum moderators like Wes (and Eric) are taking a lot of time out their day to help out as much as they can for FREE!

I think people forget that they are getting quality support for free while they themselves are getting paid to have someone else answer their questions.

But of course these are all just my views as a loyal customer. If you guys have a way to donate, I’ll be the first to do so to show that I appreciate everything you’ve done!

Guys, that line was a joke because I was opening up a lot of threads!!! I think you misunderstood me completely and to be honest, I feel a lot of aggressiveness towards my questions. I have NEVER complained about Wes or the support!!! Please keep calm, there aren’t non-verbal cues on written answers, and the same way you misunderstood my line, I can now think you are being too much rude with me.

              1) I see a support forum

              2) I don’t force Wes to support for free. If we had to pay, I would. No doubt. Or just do as Gravity Forms with their plugin and they do it very nicely, put a more expensive tag price on the theme that includes support and guidance. Or 2 options.

              3) I’d donate too

              4) The question on google fonts: you closed the reply but I still had my doubts for I’m using other themes with google fonts and they render the fonts the same across browsers, and of course with the same browser too. So I wanted to make my point and question to ask you if, taking into account this observation, you can rule out 100% that “nothing can be done”.

So please, I am a customer of yours just like anyone else. You have to assume there might be doubts.

Thanks for making me feel like a piece of shitty customer.

First I think it needs to be mentioned that the above user @selfpowerment is a customer, he (or she) is not affiliated with appfinite. They are a customer just like you. I just wanted to make that clear so you didn’t think that this site promotes being rude or anything. Although, after carefully re-reading their comment, I don’t think @selfpowerment was necessarily talking about you being rude, but people in general. Please don’t take it personal, and remember that we are here to help you ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve mentioned previously that I wanted to help ๐Ÿ™‚ so I hope you’re not taking any of my comments as being “rude”. I only explained why we have the one question policy just in case anyone else who doesn’t know can understand why it exists.

…..Back on topic – Some Google fonts show up the same on different browsers, while others show differently due to the way browsers and operating systems display fonts. I’m actually using a Macbook myself and the fonts look the exact same on my IMac, iPhone, iPad etc. So if your fonts are displaying incorrectly, it could also just be an issue with your computer settings…..I’ve seen someone who had a PC that showed text as Comic Sans font, and it was because of a setting they had on Windows.

This is a known issue, and there isn’t really anything that can be done since it’s all on Google’s servers, and it all gets rendered differently depending on what and how you’re viewing it.

Believe me, if I could fix this, you know I’d tell you exactly what to change….but unfortunately there isn’t much that you can do. Some people “claim” to have a workaround, but I haven’t personally seen much of a solution just yet.

If you click here and do a Google search you’ll see plenty of articles on the topic.

It’s not a theme issue, its just the way different browsers render fonts.

Thanks Eric for dropping by, I re-read and all things settled ๐Ÿ™‚

Concerning fonts: it’s the same browser: it’s Chrome, same version, 2 different macs (iMac and macbook, but as I say same browser, Chrome, and version) For any reason whatsoever at all your themes on my macbook Chrome: the main navigation font, h2 at welcome feature areas, copyright text, page/post titles titles…they look like Open Sans condensed or maybe some serif font, I can’t really tell. But they don’t look sleek at all and are hard to read.

Of course the site fonts are different on IE and Firefox, but they look ok to me. What I mean it’s same browser.

I can provide snapshots if you want.

                  Thanks! ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s supposed to be Open Sans throughout most of the theme. If you can send me a link of the exact areas that appear different I can check on all of my computers.

                      Hi Eric,

Look at the font (which I see on all your themes on my macbook with Chrome, and which I don’t like at all, it’s hard to read and it makes it look like a Themeforest theme not an Appfinite cool sleek theme :D). I’m talking about same browser. Google Chrome on Mac OS. It doesn’t happen with Firefox, IE…etc.

It’s on several places…arg, me no like at all that condensed font.

                      Thanks!

I’m looking at your site in the exact same places on multiple browsers on multiple computers and it doesn’t appear that way. You must have a setting on your computer that makes your fonts look weird, because no one else has reported this issue. But again, I’m not sure how to fix this since this isn’t necessarily a theme issue. From what I can see its between Google’s Font Servers and your font settings/preferences – which are both outside of the theme. Not much I can really do unfortunately.

Your site shows up fine for me on all of my Mac computers, including the iPhone….consistently.

                        @selfpowerment
since you’re already here can you take a look to see if everything is showing up correctly? If there is anyone else reading this, if you can chime in as well that would be great!
