Genesis Layout Settings

The Genesis Framework offers six (6) layout configurations that can be used for your entire website and for specific posts, pages, category archive pages, tag archive pages, and author archive pages.

Keep in mind: The available layout options are contingent on the Genesis child theme activated on your website. Not every Genesis child theme encompasses all six (6) layout settings.

  1. Content, Sidebar: This layout features the Primary Sidebar widget area positioned to the right of the content.
  2. Sidebar, Content: This layout features the Primary Sidebar widget area positioned to the left of the content.
  3. Content, Sidebar, Sidebar: This layout features both the Primary Sidebar and Secondary Sidebar widget areas, positioned to the right of the content.
  4. Sidebar, Sidebar, Content: This layout features both the Primary Sidebar and Secondary Sidebar widget areas, positioned to the left of the content.
  5. Sidebar, Content, Sidebar: This layout features the Primary Sidebar and Secondary Sidebar widget areas. The Secondary Sidebar is positioned to the left of the content, while the Primary Sidebar is positioned to the right of the content.
  6. Full Width Content: This layout does not incorporate sidebars.

Select the Default Layout for the Entire Site #

Navigate to Appearance > Customize > Theme Settings to display the available choices.

Proceed to select Site Layout in order to set the default layout for your entire website.

Utilize the drop-down menu to pick the preferred site layout. This global setting will apply to the entire website.

Select the Layout for a Specific Post or Page #

To apply a distinct layout to a particular post or page, click on the Genesis icon located at the top of the sidebar and then choose the desired layout.

Select the Layout for a Category or Tag Page #

To apply a unique layout to a category archive page or tag archive page, navigate to Posts > Categories > your chosen category or Posts > Tags > your selected tag. Next, scroll down to the Layout Settings section, as illustrated below, and pick the desired layout.

Select the Layout for an Author Page #

To apply a distinct layout to your author archive page, head to Users > Your Profile. Afterward, scroll down to the Layout Settings section, as depicted below, and choose the desired layout.
