Sometimes WordPress resizes images a certain way depending on the size. For example: a long vertical image will sometimes be resized and show up differently than a wide horizontal image.
Using the Regenerate thumbnails is the only thing I know to get all of the images to resize correctly. Also make sure you selected the same size on the Featured Page settings in your widget. (Home Bottom 290×150)
