Now, I am trying to have the categories display like the home page (grid) instead of in post format. There is a similar but older theme at studiopress (expose) and someone created a category.php file using the home.php. Not sure if this theme has any similarities? or if you had any advice?

I’m not sure if there is an easy way to do this, as you would have to create a custom template file that specifically modifies your categories page.
Also, I’ve never looked at the Expose theme, so I don’t know how they have it setup. It’s a Genesis theme, so you could probably adapt some of its code into other Genesis child themes.
