      I have a second portfolio page set up, for posts in a specific category. Posts include a featured image and a line or three of text. I’d prefer it NOT show the Read more link, although I’d like to leave that feature in the main portfolio page. I’d also like to set the character limit differently than in the main portfolio page. Is any of this possible?

        Yes you should be able to. Are you familiar with copying templates? If so you could just copy the portfolio file in your Child theme, and rename the file to something different. Then open the file and change the template name (should be near the top of the file). After that you should be able to remove the code that deals with “Read More” links.
