      Hi Wes,

I’m using the portfolio template in a number of categories, most of which I want to set as an alphabetical order.

In one category I want to have the order set as numerical per date published (news section).

How do I set the alphabetical order? Is there a way to have one category sort order per date of post and not alphabetical?

      Thanks!

      Laura

I’m not sure of the proper way to do this. 聽The only thing I know of is the plugin called Post Types Order聽聽……but that arranges all of your posts including the blog, so that may or may not work for your situation.

You can try searching WordPress for a plugin that allows you to arrange specific categories, it looks like there are a few of them available –聽http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=category+order

With respect to this issue, I followed the plugin link, and many WP portfolio plugins create an entire portfolio structure. I would just like to sort based on the theme’s existing portfolio capabilities.

I used your query_args tutorial (thank you) to get me started on the Port page. My question would be is it possible to addend that value entry to sort. e,g, ” tag_id=24″&sort=ASC ” that sort of thing? (pun intended) 馃檪

          Thanks.

Right, I saw that last night – I read a vast majority of the forum as I am getting up to speed on the theme. 馃檪

That information is what lead me to use ‘tag_id’ instead of category. My question was more related to the sorting aspect, and whether there was a way to sort outside of the default ‘newest-to-oldest’ (and thereby needing to manipulate timestamps to get the desired result).

              Thanks.

I haven’t found a way just yet. Hopefully I can figure it out in the future. Thats why I always recommend other plugins since this portfolio is pretty basic.
