Gradient on frontpage background images

Hi,

I’d like to use css to put a gradient color over the background images like this:

background: linear-gradient( rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8), rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4) )

How and where do I put this in de css file? I tried all front-page-1 inputs but it doesn’t work.

Do you have a link to your site with an image as an example? Once you post a link I can take a closer look to see exactly what needs to be done to get it to work.
