      Hi,

I’d like to arrange my latest posts by category (horizontally) on the homepage of my blog:

      http://practicalcarbs.com

Right now the posts are just listed as thumbnails with snippets ordered by posting date as you can see. I’m anticipating having visitors with different sets of interests and don’t want to scare certain ones away because they are greeted by a series of posts with a more scientific scope when all they want is perhaps recipes or weight loss tips. If the can be clearly grouped and labeled by category I’m thinking it would have more appeal and utility.

I’m thinking that a Portfolio page/template might be the logical way to go, but not sure if it can be used on the homepage — perhaps with a static page setting?

Ideally, I’d like to have an arrow button to the right of the post thumbnails that would display the next group of posts for a category. Don’t think this should be slider, just a navigational link.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated. Example(s) of this being implemented somewhere would be unbelievably fantastic!

      Thanks!
      Rich

I honestly haven’t seen an easy way to do this with Genesis. You might have to search for a plugin to customize this (if one exists). If that doesn’t work, then you’d probably have to hire one of the Genesis Devs to create something to make this possible since it doesn’t appear to exist just yet.

Thanks for the reply, Eric. I’m going to play around with the Portfolio page templates and see what I can come up with. If worse comes to worse, I might try going with a static homepage that essentially hardcode posts by category. The immediate goal is to lower the bounce rate, which I’m guessing is the result of visitors not immediately finding posts that match their particular interests. I’ll post back on what I find out.
