I purchased the Epik theme as a newbie to the Genesis Framework and Epik theme. I thought I would receive all of the content that I saw at http://demo.appfinite.net/epik/ but instead it appears to be just the framework itself. Am I correct in thats all this theme is? Also, I’m having an extremely difficult (4 -5 hrs) time trying to play with my image in the header to fit right and to move the menu to be right justified. The big thing is the header area. Can you please help. I’d rather not adjust CSS code I’m looking for a plugin that will assist.

To duplicate the demo take a look at the top sticky posts in the Epik forum here – https://appfinite.com/forum/epik-theme-support/ (they’re highlighted). You’re supposed to add the content that you want, rather than having to remove it all when you need to setup a site (more efficient this way). There is an XML file included in the theme that you could use to add main content like pages, posts, etc….but widget content doesn’t transfer in an XML file, so that’s why Wes created all of those tutorials and code snippets to allow you to use what you need.

If you have separate questions you’ll have to create separate threads for each one since they have a “One question per thread policy” – https://appfinite.com/topic/forum-rules/

I went thru all the highlighted items and there is certainly some good information here but I’m not at all seeing the section that has info on how to duplicate the demo. What am I missing?

It’s all there, the top highlighted posts show you the exact code that was used in each widget on the demo homepage. Make sure and add them to a text widget.

There is also an XML file in your theme that you can load for all the posts/pages.

@BMECOM There isn’t just one post, there are multiple posts. He is referring to the yellow posts at the top of the Epik forum – https://appfinite.com/forum/epik-theme-support/ Can’t miss it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Whats so hard about telling me which post it is where you say the code is provided? I’m not getting a great feeling about paying $99 for a template and then to find that the answers I get are so evasive. I’m not asking for help on coding the site, I just want to know the specific post that you are referring to. I didn’t miss your yellow forum posts, i’m just not seeing the particular one you are saying has all this code.

What I can tell you is that I never had a more difficult time getting a simple answer from any forum I ever been on going back 20+ years…..I hate to say that but it’s true. Maybe I should go back to StudioPress themselves for help….

If you’re like me, what you’re trying to accomplish (logo image left, narrower top nav bar, menu floated to the right (on full size screen), your solution is simply to go in to the “Widgets” menu, then simply move the “Custom Menu” widget into the “Header Right” section. Customize away.

If you need to customize for the height of your logo, that can be done in the edit>functions.php file and modifying this:

// Add support for custom header
add_theme_support( ‘genesis-custom-header’, array(
‘width’ => desired pixel #,
‘height’ => desired pixel #

All good things require a learning curve. Nothing good comes without effort ๐Ÿ˜‰

@BMECOM This is a community forum. If you go back to StudioPress, you’ll still be posting on a COMMUNITY FORUM ๐Ÿ˜‰ Their policy will be to send you back here for help. Just giving you a heads up. Keep in mind, we are all volunteers here, and we’re all trying to help you, but nobody is required to.

If you look at all the posts on here where others have asked how to setup the demo, you’ll see where someone links them to that specific page. As a matter of fact, that same page is also linked to in your Read Me file. Have you seen that yet?

Even though I’ve already linked to it, I’ll post it here anyways –

Epik Widget Location Guide – https://appfinite.com/topic/epik-widgets-guide/

Home Feature 1 and 2 code – https://appfinite.com/topic/home-feature-1-and-2-code-for-the-epik-theme/

Welcome Widget Code for the Epik theme – https://appfinite.com/topic/welcome-widget-code-for-the-epik-theme/

How to Change Skin/Colors – https://appfinite.com/topic/how-to-change-skincolors/

How to add the “Pricing Plans” Code – https://appfinite.com/topic/how-to-add-the-plans-features/

^ That is EXACTLY how to create and setup the frontpage just like the demo. Doesn’t get any easier than that.

Again, everyone is here to help you, to assist you, and point you in the right direction….but please don’t expect for someone to hold your hand for everything. This still requires you to do some of the work too.

Wow, I have honestly never seen anyone have a problem setting up the demo, especially even when the instructions are laid out in the forum! If you’re still asking someone to send you a link at this point, you’re not trying.

At least attempt to look at the links. If you’re not willing to do that or willing to follow the instructions, then no-one can help you.

If coding websites is not you’re thing, I completely understand! It’s not always easy, but if you want to get better you have to be patient, and willing to do the work to get there. If you’re new to Genesis, Studiopress has an entire section on setting up Genesis if you haven’t seen it already – http://my.studiopress.com/ This is very helpful, it explains how Genesis works. The tutorials for the child theme are in those links above. StudioPress has documentation for Genesis at their site, and Wes has documentation for his theme here on his site. Make sense?

You guys have me all wrong. I’m not asking for anyone to code anything for me. I’m not *not* unwilling to work at it. I am appreciative of your assistance. I’m all about learning new things. You just dont seem to comprehend what I was saying in that I could not see any links within the highlighted area posts. I went in and looked. I missed it. I’m human. But you know what, I went in with fresh eyes and found it myself. I think you’re referring to the right column that was not obvious these were links with code examples. I dont know why, maybe my eyes were buggy from playing with the themes until 3 in the morning. I dont know. But I missed it. I see all the code. Wonderful.

Giving free help or not you guys are <representing> (on your own behalf or someone elses) a *payed for* product. You apparently are given the rights by WordPress as well. You’re not supporting *freeware*. I understand you are not required to assist with coding or anything else. This was different. It was a general product feature tutorial request. What I can say is that you guys really should read the posts better and you might understand what I was referring to.

I’m going to scratch this off as a mis-communication. My bad. Again I appreciate your assistance and look forward to mastering the Genesis theme and Appfinite child theme. Thanks again…..

@BMECOM It appears to still be some confusion here….none of us own this site, or are employed by appfinite. So that’s what was meant by “no one is required to help” ….this site was created and managed by Wes, (who does most of the support)…..anyone else you see here is just a customer/community member, like yourself.

I don’t think anyone misread what you were saying, everything was perfectly clear. The links to assist you are there, and have always been there….they are not located in the “right column”…(not even sure what you’re referring to when you mention that). The links inside of the yellow/highlighted posts are wrapped around text. So you’re not going to see something that says – “http://link-example.com” you would see something like this – “Epik 1.3 for Genesis 2.0 / HTML5 is now available!“….Based on what you wrote it seems like you were confused, but as long as you got it now that’s all that matters.

@BMECOM no problem ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad you got it figured out. Just let me know if you need anything else, I’d be happy to help!
