      Was this screen intended to be a slider?

      If so, how is it supposed to work?

        No, that’s just a regular widget area. Each section that you see on the frontpage are widget areas. In each of those widget areas you can add whatever type of content you want inside them. So if you wanted to add a slider inside this widget area or any widget area on the page, you can.
