    Hi Wes,

Trying to figure out what I hope won’t be a complex piece of code, but I’m definitely scratching my head…

I have a portfolio page set up to display a category (nice tutorial by the way, thank you!), and each of the posts featured on the page also has one of four child categories.

What I’d like to do is order the items on the page by those child categories (they’re the hotel’s star ratings), and insert the child category name as a heading between the relevant rows. This is the page on the test site that I’m working with – http://pgt.danrippon.net/gc-accommodation/ – any help you can offer is much appreciated!

    Cheers

I’ve had a few people ask something similar to this, but I’m not sure how to do it just yet.

You could try a plugin like this – http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-types-order/ which controls the post order, but it will most likely effect the post order of your blog as well……so that may or may not work for your situation.

I’ve probably mentioned this before, but I always recommend searching for an actual Portfolio plugin to handle things like this, as the portfolio template in the theme is really just a customized version of your blog.  Adding that type of functionality would probably be too complex for the theme/template, which is why I recommend finding a plugin.

I would like to team up with some developers and create a plugin like this sometime in the future.

Heh, I did figure it’d be a bit more than a “drop A into B, hold while glue dries” solution, but thank you for your great reply and suggestion, I’ll have a look into it…

As ever, keep up the great work on your themes!

    Cheers

    Thanks!

Hopefully I can create this soon.
