This may be a strange question, but using the Portfolio template, are there any ways to link to pages rather than posts? I’d love to use the Portfolio layout to create a “resources” page with links to downloadable content (eBooks, Whitepapers, etc.). But when the user clicks a link, I’d like to take them directly to a landing page w/ a download form.
I’d rather not have them to to a post, then the landing page – too many clicks. The landing pages are hosted on HubSpot, otherwise I could just insert the download form into a post.
Here’s one option that could work, but would it be a bad idea from an SEO perspective?
1) Create a post and featured image for each item. – Those show on the portfolio page.
2) 301 redirect the post in item #1 to the landing page url.
I’ve tested this and it works. The workflow isn’t much more difficult than other options. But would the search engines penalize for having many 301 redirects to pages on the same site?
