      Hi all,
I have the responsive slider settings at 1140 x 400. My images area exactly 1140 x 400. I have this slider working perfectly well on several other sites yet the exact same slider / image sizes / settings on this one site keeps cropping my images down to 960px. I’m using the latest version of everything; WP, Legacy, Responsive slider. The only plugins are the Responsive Slider, Simple Edits, and Responsive Header (which also isn’t working properly). Why can I get this slider to be 1140px on every site with the exception of one??

Have you already setup and ran the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin?

Have you made sure you’re settings are 1140px in your Slider Settings page?

If that’s not it, right click your image while viewing from the slider, and look at the image name (should show up at the top of the browser when you open it)….what does it say? Does it say “cropped” or “960” or anything smaller than 1140px? If so, then that means WordPress cropped your image previously and is using the smaller version instead of the large/original size.

If you have a link I can take a look as well.

          Hi Eric,

I saw no need to use Regenerate Thumbnails since this is a fresh new site and all images where created and uploaded at 1140 x 400. The settings are correct. What’s confusing me the most is that this exact slider, dimensions and all, is installed on another site and nothing was automatically cropped or resized. When viewing the image (via right click), I see that the image is not the 960 width; It’s 920 x 400. Also: The drop shadow does not show up at all.

Here’s a link to the site (edited) (NOTE: Clicking on the Home link will take you to his old/current site.)
Can you delete the link from my post when you’re done? I shouldn’t be posting it.
          Thank you!

P.S. Please tell Wes I said Congrats on his new baby! I saw you mention his new baby (boy??) while I was pouring over the forum looking for a solution to the slider problem. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah just as I figured, WP is using the cropped version probably because you setup the slider at 920px first (since thats the default size) and then added a featured image. So just reupload the featured image at its original size….then Regenerate, and it should work.

Actually, I installed the slider first — before any pages or images were added — and immediately changed the settings to 1140, as per usual. I didn’t add any featured images until after I put up a few pages, so that I could add the featured images. As I’ve mentioned, I’m using this slider on quite a few sites and this is the first and only time I’ve had an issue with the images. I doubt this has anything to do with it, BUT… this is also the ONLY site that’s hosted on GoDaddy. (I SO HATE godadddy!)

I’ve already tried reloading the images. But haven’t used the Regenerate plugin. I’ll try installing the Regenerate plugin and then reloading the images again.

By the way; Can you use your admin powers to remove the link from my previous post? I would greatly appreciate it. I don’t see a way for me to take care of that myself.

Update: I regenerated the featured images in Media Library. That solved the problem without having to reupload the images.

Thanks, Eric! Hopefully, I will never need to do this again. ๐Ÿ™‚

BTW I got Wes to remove the link for you since I don’t have the “Moderator” status at the moment…
