      Hi
I can see how to exclude post categories on the theme settings so that only relevant posts appear on a portfolio page and likewise only relevant blog posts on the blog page.

      But

Widgets (e.g. recent posts, categories) show everything. So the result is that on my blog page you can see a category named “portfolio”.

Is there a way to best separate these different post types? In some other themes I’ve worked with “portfolio” shows up as a separate entity on the left menu in wordpress admin.

I’m not exactly sure how to do that. I’ll do some research and let you know if I come across anything.

If you just want to remove the “Portfolio” link from your sidebar, then I’m wondering if we can hide it using CSS. If so, send me a link to your site so I can see if that’s possible.

it would be more than just 1 link under categories, it’s the fact that it will appear right across the blog in tags, recent posts etc. Ideally it would be separate. But I don’t think that’s going to be possible. This also means the portfolio page will be identical to the blog archive page for the portfolio category except for the CSS that styles the page
