      Hi,

      I have installed the Layer Slider and have no idea how to get it to work. I have tried looking for tutorials…but they are still not helping.

      So I installed the Genesis Responsive Slider…but don’t know what settings to put. It isn’t filling the area properly. Is it meant to be 1140px wide?

      I can’t wait to see the new demo…

      Anyway, any tips will be welcomed! I would love it to look like Wes’s demo…with all the transitions…but wow…what a learning curve.

      Thanks…I’m becoming desperate.

        Woohoo! I have been playing and figured it out!

        However…any simple tips in case I am missing any would still be appreciated. 🙂

          I’m using the LayerSlider WP that came with my purchase last week of Ally, and highly recommend it. Many more features than the Genesis Responsive Slider, with dozens of transitions and easy animations like those shown on the Ally demo. I too though am having a challenge with the width setting. The Ally demo slider is 960 pixels wide. I’m setting both the Genesis and LayerSlider slider controls to a 960 pixel width but my slider is still showing up at 1140 pixels, which I think is the default setting for the Genesis slider, and stretching my images. How do we get it to respond to the width settings in the control panel instead of showing at 1140?

            @Gary have you seen the new version of Ally at the new demo site? It’s 1140px now – http://demo.appfinite.net/ally …it’s at .net now instead of .com

            The theme you have is 1140px by default and not 960px anymore….(you can change this if you don’t like it that wide).

                Thanks for that info, Eric. I set both the LayerSlider and Genesis Responsive Slider to 960 and it’s still at 1140. Any ideas?

                  Yeah that’s what I was referring to in my previous comment, the theme you have is 1140px not 960px. So you would need to set your slider to 1140px to match the theme.

                  After you do that, you’ll want to install and run a plugin called Regenerate Thumbnails – http://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ and it will automatically adjust the sizes of your images to fit the size of your slider settings so you don’t have to wait for them to change.

                  Also, do you have a link? I still want you to try the suggestion above, but I can take a look at your images to see what everything looks like.

                    I misunderstood you to mean that I could change it to 960. I’ll just change my images to 1140. Should look great that way. Thanks for the help.

                      Also, if you want your entire theme to be 960px instead of 1140px you can change it back if you want. I just helped someone do this because 1140px was too wide for their needs. So if you do, just let me know 🙂

                        is the layerslider a plugin? I didn’t get it with the Ally theme but would love to have that feature. I looked under plugins search but no luck there.

                        I googled it and found this http://codecanyon.net/item/layerslider-responsive-wordpress-slider-plugin-/1362246 will that do or is there another one developed for this specific theme?

                          @Barry yes it is a plugin. You should already have access to it, so no need to purchase it unless you need support for it from the creators of the plugin (it’s not made by appfinite). Just go to your account and download the second zip file – https://appfinite.com/my-account

                              Layerslider isn’t uploading via plugins. Did anyone else have problems uploading or did you just go ahead and ftp the file?

                                It’s from codecanyon, so you’ll have to unzip it first since they usually include the plugin + documentation and other files all inside the main zip. Once you open it up, you should see something called WordPress installable zip….or something similar.

                                      Hi again,

                                      I have been using the Gensis slider and the dimensions 1140 x 645 to fit screen. Today, I began the migration of the layered images to the layer slider but the images origionally cropped for the genesis slider don’t fit the layer slider by default.

                                      I tried Eric’s suggestion from above, and downloaded and ran the ‘regenerate thumbnails’ plugin but no better, unfortunately.

                                      Now it seems I have to resize the layers but I don’t know to what dimensions so it’s a guessing game.

                                      I must be missing something….

                                      Any suggestions greatly appreciated

                                        I have no clue what it could be, the only advice I have is to double check your settings and the Global settings of the plugin. It’s a 3rd party plugin from code canyon so I’m not as familiar with it. The Regenerate Thumbnails trick is really for the Genesis Slider, and other parts of the theme…..I’m not sure if it will affect the Layer Slider since it’s a different plugin.

                                        They should have documentation in the settings section near the top. If you need to get support for it then you would have to purchase it from the developer on Code Canyon (I think it’s around $15). The reason you would have to pay for it is because it’s included with the Ally theme for free, but if you need support from the developers you would have to purchase it from them to get access to their forum. I’d double check your settings though just in case it’s something small.

                                          I’m using Layer Slider and the default dimensions are 1140×445, not 1140×645. Perhaps resizing your images would make a difference?
