I just uploaded and activated Ambition and got an update available notice. When I updated, my Appfinite Ambition theme was converted into a theme by Themehorse that asked me to upgrade to Pro.

    Suggestions?

Sorry I’m just now seeing this! I’m not sure why that happens exactly, my guess is WordPress thinks it’s the same Ambition theme from their Theme Repository so that’s probably why that happened.

Genesis Child themes don’t usually have Update Notifications, only the Genesis Framework does. So in the future, if you get an update Notification for Ambition, just ignore it in case it’s the wrong theme giving you that alert. When we (or any Child Theme developer) have updates, you usually have to manually update those by deleting/replacing the theme if you need to.

I’ve had 2 other people mention something like this, but it’s never happened to me.

Glad I checked here BEFORE doing that upgrade! I saw this in my dashboard and it seemed suspect to me, especially going from 1.1.3 to 1.4. Plus, I’m positive Wes would have sent out a notice if he had upgraded this theme.

But… will my clients know not to hit that Upgrade button?? I highly doubt it. So. What happens if they do the upgrade?

If they do click upgrade then it sounds like WordPress will probably install the other theme, but I’m not sure since it hasn’t happened to me yet.
I can’t see how that is coming up as an option. I went to the Demo as well as a few other sites that use the theme and no update shows up for me. How are you doing it?

Apparently, this happens with other Theme Developers as well.

I wonder if I should add something to the Theme name so WordPress doesn’t get it confused with the other Theme. Maybe something like “Ambition Pro”. I’ll look into it.
