Hello!
I am a WordPress and Epik newbie and would appreciate some guidance.
I’ve attempted to change the background colour of the Welcome feature widgets 1-3 via the CSS Editor, but now the new colour doesn’t extend the full width of the screen; rather it relates only to the three columns of content. Can you please advise me where I have gone wrong?
I’ll post a temporary log-in, assuming it would be helpful for you to view my incorrect entry.
Many thanks!
Susie
Hi Susie, the reason thats happening is because the Welcome Div/Section contains and holds both the Welcome-Wide and Welcome Feature 1 – 3 all inside the same div. So you would need to separate it and reorganize how it’s displayed from the home.php file.
Since I’ve done this a bunch of times, I can easily rearrange this code for you if you want. We usually recommend hiring a developer to do Customizations (due to the time & effort) but I can get this done fairly quick since it’s a small/minor modification.
If you have an FTP login, that would be best and the safest way to edit since were dealing with PHP code. As you may already know, if there is a PHP error in WordPress, your site will show a blank white screen with the error and you’d be unable to access your site to fix it from the WordPress editor. But if you are using FTP, edits can be made Externally, and if there is an error all we would need to do is Undo the mistake and it would revert back. This isn’t an issue from the theme or anything like that, it’s just how PHP code and WordPress is designed.
Your site is looking Nice by the way! Make sure and add it to the showcase whenever you’re finished – https://appfinite.com/showcase-your-site
Sorry about that Susie! I haven’t been getting email notifications from the bbPress Forum plugin for some reason, and I had no idea you replied. I also noticed a couple other posts that didn’t notify me a reply was made. So I’ll need to figure out what’s going on.
I’m catching up on everything now and will take a look at your site in a sec.
Thanks!
Thanks @Wes. I’m on a deadline to make my site live, so would be most grateful for your assistance. I just have the four problems to sort out and then I’m ready to go live! :o)

The FTP login doesn’t seem to work when I try. Can you post the exact link to the domain? Or is the one that you linked to earlier the only link they gave? Your hosting company may be able to help if you need to get the login.
The FTP program I use said I had “too many attempts”. So your host is probably blocking my IP since I had too many failed login attempts due to the incorrect passwords I typed in (that’s normal)……So I tried to use the login to the Bluehost site itself and located the Online/Browser version of FTP and made a couple adjustments that way. It seems like that may have worked. I was able to make some adjustments to the code.
Check that out and let me know if that’s how you want your site to look.
Just in case you missed it I mentioned in my previous comment that I was able to edit the code from the Browser version of the FTP (from your Bluehost Backend/Admin). So check your site out to see if what I did to the code is what you were looking to do with the Welcome sections.
It should be fixed now.
Perfect, thank you. :o)
You’re Welcome!
