Tagged: aspire, code, html, text widgets, Wordpress update
Hi, since last Friday and the 4.8 WordPress update, I have lost the Frontpage 1, 3, 5 text widgets. The update changed the html widget to a visual editor and ruined the code – it’s simply not working any more.
I have tried using the Classic Text Widget that Victor Font on the Studiopress forum suggested but it won’t work either. If I refresh the homepage, for a nanosecond, I can see my widgets, but they don’t render after that.
I put some html, button code, divs, and span classes into the old text widget.
I am at complete loss as to how to resolve this. And it’s pretty urgent as the site needs to go live mid-end this week. I am really desperate to sort this so your help appreciated.
I just noticed the new WP update as well, but I haven’t had any issues with it. The Aspire Demo is running on the latest version – demo.appfinite.net/aspire/
Do you have a link to your site?
Also, is it possible to create a temporary login so I can try and add the code in? (Use the Private Reply option below).
If you have the exact code you’re using, post that here as well so I can give it a try to make sure everything is working.
Looks like the issue is coming from a plugin you’re using called “WP Overlays“.
I just deactivated it, and now your widgets are showing perfectly. I think there may be some type of javascript conflict with that plugin somewhere. I’m not sure what it’s conflicting with exactly, but that’s definitely where it’s coming from.
The WordPress Regular Text widgets are still working as well. If you add code to a text widget, just make sure to use the Text Tab instead of the Visual editor and it should work fine.
All of the code that you added is showing up now that the WP Overlays plugin was deactivated.
You’re Welcome!
