    @Wes, I followed the directions above and both menus are way too far to the left.
    This is the first thing I’m working on after starting over – there is no CSS or anything interfering.

    @JohnnyvanM, I wonder if this has to do with the structure, the sizes of columns and spacing between columns, which is what I can’t seem to get right, to all work together and be responsive.

    Try making that sidebar somewhat smaller and see what happens.

    @Wes, what menus did you use to create the two menus in the demo, and how are they positioned? I just want my site and it’s structure to look like the demo.

    HI Eric – I’m confused. Let’s say I just want the exact navigation that the demo has.
    Are those the primary and secondary menus and no header widgets are used?

    I also love the Epik footers and want to replicate them on my site.
    The info from Aug. 11 doesn’t seem to match the footer I see on the site now.
    The footer 1 now is just the Studiopress logo
    Nothing in the middle.
    The right one has none of the text you mention -am I looking at something other than what you’re looking at?:

    Hi Kronos – Re the demo menu – could you tell the me the widgets used to create the primary and secondary menus?
    Could you tell me what size you logo is? and confirm that you changed the functions file and what else did you change?
    .title-area { width: X00px; } ??
    and .sidebar-primary { width: x00px;} ??
    Did you set the width of your site, if so where? Did you edit anything in @media ?

    THANKS!!

    Been working on this for a week with someone….looking at the Epic demo and my site…I think it would be better/take less time to take out all my home page edits and redo it to match the Epik demo.
    Kill nearly everything I’ve done, except for images etc.
    the 2 guys I hired are not able to get it done, no responses on the topic, “Need Help – Lost Mobile Responsiveness”
    We have woo commerce integrated, and wouldn’t want to overwrite those changes.

    I love the Epik home page and the layout of the inner pages.
    Wes has guides on how to get the site like the demo…
    What do you think about this idea…any suggestions on how to implement?
    Or how to explain to a client/friend you’re starting over….

    Hi, Eric. Thanks for doing that testing.

    Because of the wide variety of devices, versions of devices and operating systems, I’m going to have to use an emulator.
    It appears the one I picked was not accurate. I can no longer use Browserstack (need to find another good one).

    The issue arose because the owner has a Samsung Galaxy and saw the problem there.
    He sent me screen shots of it, which I was going to upload here.
    Also, it’s not looking good on my LG Optimus

    What Android devices / versions have you checked?
    We already think it’s good on all Apple devices.

    HI:
    Hello!
    Here’s something:
    http://i.imgur.com/oA8NiQe.png (Samsung Galaxy)

    http://i.imgur.com/UybzAvk.png (Motorola Razer)

    http://i.imgur.com/MM08Yti.png (LG Optimus) showing missing primary nav, slider image cut off

    I’m using http://cybercrab.com/screencheck/ for these examples.
    It also shows a problem for iPhones using this tool.
    Originally, the problem was shown just by checking the site with the actual phones.

    thanks!

    HI Wes:
    Thanks much for the tool. Fantastic.

    I don’t understand the relevance of: “You won’t have much to worry about as most designers/developers just edit the css directly”

    This is my first Genesis theme.
    Genesis will update automatically?
    And Epik, that will not update automaticallY?

    When the child theme is ready for an update, I suppose just the files are made available, and you can update what you choose?

    —I think mine has a lot of customization in the css. And is maybe the cause for the loss of mobile responsiveness. I have another
    topic open for it.—I would appreciate any comments or specific direction I need to go to resolve it. —-

    thanks, Eric!

    So…if they ever update the style.CSS file in a theme update, my changes will get overwritten.

    to prevent problems in the event this happens, I suppose I”m back to
    compare a current copy of my style.css and the theme style.css, identify the differences and place the changes in a custom.css file.

    It seems like there’s going to be a lot of !important qualifiers.

    I appreciate you taking time to address this one, Wes.
    Based on your reply, I made one change and it looks good now. Thanks.

    A couple points of clarification for going forward.

    Please correct me:
    So…the header/logo avail through customization is controlled by: .title-area
    The primary sidebar at the right is controlled by: .sidebar-primary
    The entire width of my site is 1140. Where is that set?
    What is the “header widge”t area and what is it controlled by??

    Found it – .sidebar-primary,
    .title-area {width: 300px;}

    Adjusted it to 360, no more logo getting cut off….but the nav jumped down about 10 px.

    It is weird that it hasn’t been fixed…or more people complained about it.

    Using Firebug I see that the issue is caused by:
    html > body .slide-excerpt-border {
    background: none;
    border: 1px solid #ddd;
    display: inline;
    float: left;
    margin: 10px;
    padding: 14px;
    position: relative;
    z-index: 8;
    } – which is indicated to be in the main css file.

    However, when I search for .slide-excerpt-border in the style.css, there is only one entry
    .slide-excerpt-border p {
    font-weight: 900 !important;
    color: #000000 !important;
    border: 0px !important;}

    What am I missing? How can I access the correct file?
    Thanks!

    Thanks, kronos.
    I will get the regenerate thumbnails plugin.

    I’m at a loss about the slider settings. The genesis responsive slider has a clear link to take you to a place to change the settings.
    I did that. That’s all I did. AND I set the width at 920. I’ll change it to 1140px and run that plub in.

    I only know of one place to add the images – the Featured Image area of a post. Where’s the other one?

    Okay, this seems like a Woo/CSS issue – I acknowledge you for helping out.
    I’ll see if someone on fiverr can help to identify the qualifier
    that would allow for one across on this page http://newlilypad.wpengine.com/product-category/commercial/
    and two across on this page http://newlilypad.wpengine.com/shop/

    Changes to the percent here cause them both to respond the same:
    .woocommerce ul.products li {
    width: 42% !important; }

    And getting rid of the sortby on these pages:http://newlilypad.wpengine.com/product-category/commercial/
    gets rid of the input fields for the cart
    button, input, select, textarea {
    display: none !important; }

    Thanks! That was something to sort through!

    I really appreciate the assistance!
    I have made all the changes.
    It has made a difference for sure.

    It seems like somehow the Sort by box has come back.
    I’m going to try the inspector.

    Do you see anything that could change the two across like here….http://newlilypad.wpengine.com/product-category/accessory/
    to one across, like here:http://www.lilypadev.com/product-category/accessory/
    That would be so helpful. It would still be missing the snippet, but I think we could live with it.

    (I have a couple other issues on this forum – main menu items appear exactly in the reverse order, and if there’s a way to remove the box/border in sliders that don’t have any content).

    If I change the image to 50 or 75% in my style.css with !important, it doesn’t override the 100% setting in woocommerce.css.
    How can I change it?

    Hi – I appreciate the response and will try to clarify in this post.

    I understand your comments about the margin. That specific thing was not my initial problem, although when I made the change, it did look better. Thanks. What tool are you using to see the CSS? I don’t see the comments when I use Firebug.

    I’m making changes in the style.css file. Epik is functioning as a child theme, so that file should be safe from updates.

    What I’m going for is that I want this page: http://www.lilypadev.com/product-category/accessory/ (from)
    to be what you see on this page: http://newlilypad.wpengine.com/product-category/accessory/ (to)

    1) there’s an issue with the product images (maybe all images on my site) are sizing up bigger
    you can see the issue here http://www.lilypadev.com/product-category/accessory/ and
    again on this page: http://newlilypad.wpengine.com/shop/electric-vehicle-charging-station-signs-two/
    it’s really a problem in the slider. those images are also off center (I have been to the genesis responsive theme people
    and here and can’t get it resolved).

    2) there is this code that wasn’t on the New site, which I have put in the css, and which surely is not correct, but I don’t know how to make it do.
    #main { width: 600px; }
    .col-left { float: left;

    Here’s an example:
    On this page, http://newlilypad.wpengine.com/product-category/accessory/?orderby=popularity

    the applicable css seems to be: .woocommerce .woocommerce-ordering select, .woocommerce-page .woocommerce-ordering select {
    vertical-align: top; }
    That’s in the Woo Commerce Css file.
    I put that code in the regular css file and edited the woo css file.
    I tried moving the selector to bottom, and I tried display: none !important.
    Nothing makes any difference.

    P.S. t si
    The settings show max size is 920×400 – I have tried some images that size, and the same problem occurs – the image is lowered quite a bit and seems to be blown up.
    The actual size seems to be 1250 x 430 – I’ve made images that size and and they are also positioned lower than center, and look like they are expanded.
    The images there now have been formatted to adapt to the forced (seemingly) styling.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated.

    Hi – it’s working now – I got someone to help me. I see the change, but I don’t understand how he got that to work – if I knew, I would know what my knowledge gap is and I could set about to learn it. As it is I just feel inadequate. It seems like he created a new CSS class for the
    secondary menu AND implemented a new style for it. OR if that class already existed, he somehow found it when I couldn’t.

    For sure I have a deficit in finding the correct class or element name. I use Firebug for Firefox. Is there another tool
    that would help me?

    I would like to reduce the size of the gray bar at the very top – I can’t find what it’s called to do that.
    When the person fixed the secondary menu, he moved the main navigation over to the left – I must not be identifying it correctly, because my changes are not working.
    There used to be a small gray bar below the main navigation – I want that back – I don’t know what it’s called or how to find it.
    I want to add a little image of a cart, to the top menu, something like this http://www.woothemes.com/2012/08/in-
    this-weeks-episode-of-woocommerce/ – have no idea where to even start.

    Many thanks for any ideas you can share!

    width: 22% !important;

    Hi Wes – thanks!

    I would like some words to be bold, some to be italic, some to be 16pt., etc., based on the unique sentence for the unique slide.
    I have chosen to include full text (vs. 150 word excerpt) to be included in the excerpt section on the slider.
    It strips out all formatting along the way.
    Is there a way to NOT remove all the formatting OR a way to add it in, word by word?
