I upgraded WP to the latest 4.75.
I upgraded Epik to 1.5.
I’ve attached a screen shot of the mess I have now.
Please advise.
I’m not sure how others can learn from a “marked as private” post.
Thanks for the quick response Wes!
How about this statement I made:
As a related question, I’m selecting fairly large images (1024×768) to use as my “Featured Image” image. Is there a redundancy issue here?
IOW should I manually create a smaller (320×240) image specifically for Featured Images or just continue as I’ve done above?
@Eric – thank you! Just what I needed.
I’m ever so slowly learning my way around css. Mostly I copy and paste from the css code of other sites I like.
I would like to next tackle styling the comments, such that mine (author) have a different look.
So I guess I would being styling this bit?
.bypostauthor { }
Thanks @golvine for keeping this topic going! I see you have indeed fixed your situation. Your captioned photos look great now on mobile.
A big thank you to @Eric for all of your help. I, too, have fixed this.
It turns out that it was my cacheing plugin preventing changes from working.
All is well… for now. 🙂
Not that URL @Eric – that is a test site. Sorry for the confusion.
Here’s a URL to look at in your mobile browser:
http://hotsaucedaily.com/2013/07/25/saas-hot-sauce-review/
The last line of my style.css has that code.
http://hotsaucedaily.com/blog/wp-content/themes/epik/style.css
Thanks for the input @Eric. We ARE talking displays on mobile devices, right? I’m using an iPhone w/ Safari browser.
ANY pic without a caption is showing up just fine, scaled to mobile.
Any pic WITH a caption, is showing only part of the pic, with the caption and rest of pic off screen right.
I added this code:
.wp-caption {
width: 100% !important;
}
to the very bottom of my /epik/style.css file, and it’s not working.
Perhaps I’m adding it in the wrong place?
Should I be adding that code somewhere else either within the style.css file (under one of the sections for mobile browsing)?
Thanks in advance. Brian.
@Wes – I’m still having the same problem on my mobile experience as @Paul
The CSS you suggested earlier never worked for me either.
It’s been awhile since I could come back to re-visit this issue…
Please help find a solid solution to this most important matter. Our mobile experiences with the Epik theme regarding Captioning images should work better than it is.
@Michael
I’m looking forward to learning how you accomplished your header image settings.
Please post your link here for us to learn from.
Thanks!
Thanks. I will try the latest version of that PHP code. However, I have my doubts, as a recent comment stated it no longer worked for his WP 3.5.1 install.
You first mentioned you have CSS that overrides the width – I’ll be picking your brain for that, if the functions.php code fails.
I’ll report back.

Sure. Here’s a post with 3 images.
First image, no caption. I made my own. 🙂
Images 2 and 3 have WP captions, but do not scale on mobile.
@ayp510 Looks good! What did you use to get the menu into the Header Right Widget area? The Custom Menu Widget included with Epik/Genesis? I like that layout.
~Brian
Success. Thank you Wes! Really appreciate that.
Thanks, Wes. That really helped.
Except now I have a tiny square search button:
Instead of a nice rectangle like this:
I have played with all of the padding and margin settings, to no avail. Also note the rectangle version has a bottom border in the input field, whereas the current version is missing that bottom border. I fixed the bottom border by adding:
.gsib_a {
padding-top: 2px !important;
}
Thanks Eliz ! I can handle those things. Just needed a little clarification.
Wes – a tutorial is indeed a welcome necessity! Thanks.
eslucky and Wes – can you dumb this down for us? I’d like to accomplish the same, but I’m not quite following what you both are saying.
Could you post this so we all benefit from the tip? Thanks!
~Brian
@Dinesh – all of your featured images are of different sizes. They should be the exact same size for each post, and based on your media settings.
@ayp510 – I’m interested in the replies to your question too. Following along.
BTW, do you have a URL we could look at?
~Brian
