    Thanks – no I tried that already. That’s what used to work that doesn’t now. I have tried every one of the formats and it is “stuck” on full width. Can we get that functionality back? I really need a sidebar on those pages and I’ve used them a LOT!!

    Thanks

    OK – the answer you gave here: http://appfinite.com/topic/portfolio-not-lining-out-on-the-left-side/
    solved the first problem but I would still like to know how to use a sidebar on a portfolio page like I could do in the previous version.
    Thx

    OK – see – its the buzzwords that are second nature to you but are “greek” to me. For example, “replacing the old markup with the new markup” – Does this “markup” exist anywhere other than style.css?

    I had already looked at the first link above but it doesn’t tell the novice what exactly I am supposed to DO with that information. Thank you for covering that in your last paragraph. I am comfortable enough with .css to do that.

    But what do you mean by: ” Same thing for your other theme files” – what do you mean by “other theme files” – the ONLY thing I have ever “played” with is style.css. And although I have a vague notion of what a “hook” is, do I need to do anything if I am not a developer and haven’t used “hooks” or do I need to be concerned about my plugins?

    And how do I “save a copy of my current theme?” Copy the folder?

    Do you think you could tell me the high level” steps?
    For example, I HAVE successfully updated to Genesis 2.0 but have not enabled HTML5.
    What do I do now? Download the new Optimal theme?
    What do I do 3rd? Enable HTML5 in Genesis or does that come later?
    What do I do 4th?
    etc.

    I can find the how-to for each step – I just need someone to be a little clearer about what the steps are?
    I apologize for being such a simpleton. I am learning but still have a ways to go. Any help is appreciated.

    If the only thing I am concerned with is my .css staying intact, can I do this? 1) Copy my current .css to a separate location. 2)Upgrade Optimal like a new install. 3)Manually make the changes to my old .css per Brian’s chart and then copy that into the new style.css?

    Again – thank for any help.

    Thank you. That worked to change the color in the Custom menu in both the Footer1 widget area and in Home Featured 2. However, the #footer-widgets suggestion you provided to change the footer to a different color did not work.

    Could it be where I am placing it in the CSS file? Sorry for the newbie questions. Still learning CSS.

    Oh – sorry – and I have a similar problem in Footer area #1 – when I change the SIZE of the font in the header menu, it affects the size of the Custom menu options in the footer area. I need to control those separately as well.

    Thanks again.

    Yes – thank you. So sorry not to have done that. http://www.maxmyshopping.com/wp/
    It’s a work in progress.

    The Custom Menu widget in the Home Featured 2 section uses the same color font as in the header menu – white. I need to change the one for the custom menu to something else without affecting the header menu.

    Thanks

    OK – I finally found on my own how to change the colors on the main menu options and drop downs. And, I even found how to get the Custom menu options to show something other than white. My problem now is that also changes the Main Menu colors which I really want to stay white.

    .optimal-green .menu a {
    color: #fff;

    When I update the above it changes both the Primary menu options as well as the Custom menu options. I need the custom menu options to be different.

    Help?
