Thanks for the help. I thought I was supposed to choose Post Excerpts? I switched to Post Content and it limits the characters like I wanted it. I didn’t even add the CSS, I did but it worked with or without it. What does that do?
So it looks much closer to what I want now. Any idea why one will occasionally include one more line of text and be longer. Picture looks same size, title takes up two lines, but there’s one more line of text. I’d love a perfectly uniform look as I see in most portfolios.

I was out all day, just getting back. It looks really good. It’s way bigger (640px tall) but actually I like that. But I think I understand the problem. It’s set to 100% wide so it’s enlarging it proportionally. I still like the big size so I’ll keep it for now.thanks for your help,

It’s cut off about 1/3 of the image from the bottom. It’s definitely enlarging the image. Look at it in the media library to see the full image at 400px tall. I had used that regenerate tool every time I made a change. It isn’t doing anything for this one.
Also I dont’ know how you got rid of the white band top and bottom but I’m glad you did. What did you do.
And the menu, why is it under the logo.

I tried changing size of my image and it always crops it, and if I go very small, like 200px tall it just enlarges it back up and the quality is horrible. I optimized this image at the highest quality setting in PS, it should look very good. Plus I get white gaps (background color) between header, slider, and next section, Welcome wide or whatever. There’s no reason that by default that should happen. I’m trying to find the CSS to fix it but it’s not working. I am frustrated with this theme honestly. It should work to set a slider size to 1140 x 400 and an image to 1140 x 400 and it should fit fine with no gaps. That’s what a theme should do vs custom design. It seems like this theme needs custom work for just a basic set up. I have another site using Epik that took forever to it get looking even close to decent and I’m still not happy, went back to the old theme for now on that site until I figure out Epik or find a new one. In addition, why is my menu, just 2 items under the logo in the header instead of in the space to the right? I’m close to abandoning this theme honestly unless you can explain what I am doing wrong.

ScottHow did you do that logo. Every time I try to upload a horizontal or wide logo it wants to crop it to more of a square shape. I”m guessing it’s a graphic vs text, or is there a way to use text and an image.

Thanks very much. That took care of most it. The sliders look great. I hope I can get help with just one more little fix, how to control that space between slider and the welcome wide text, the text just below the slider. It’s pretty large now.
also, I don’t have line numbers on my CSS. What are you referring to there?

I did the Regenerate Thumbnails thing and it didn’t work. I was very careful to enter the settings in slider settings first then size the images exactly, then upload them and assign them to the 4 posts they are referring to. I set up the images to allow for the cropping but I’d like to be able to see the whole thing and have control of that, and those white spaces above and below I’d like to get rid of.

I am also having this problem, logo is the same size (too big) no matter what size image I use. Something is forcing it to that size. I added Andykev’s code in my css editor and don’t see any change.
Is there code that assigns a size value to the header image so I can try different sizes to see what looks good?
I want to hear from Wes. Come on man! this should work. I made 4 images, 1140 x 350 and set slider to that size. Why is it cropping my images?

Well neither option works, both crop my image. I made these 4 images 1140 x 350. In slider wide they go across the screen alright but get cropped, in other words they are enlarged too much.
In the reg. slider the image falls short of the right left arrows and doesn’t show me the entire image.
here’s what I have. dev.howitworksmedia.com I only have the 4 slider images. that’s I created them at 1140 x 400 and uploaded them, using posts with these as featured images.
I also saw a question about full width sliders that is apparently possible and would love to know how to do that.

Scottdid you ever get an answer to your question about the full width slide in Epik theme. I can’t get anything to look right with the genesis slider, wide or not.

my slider images are 1140 x 350 and they are getting cropped, at little on the left and quite a lot on the right. Any ideas why?
