Great, thanks Wes.
Thanks for the good advice, Kronos. Google plans to impliment a ranknig factor for Mobile Friendly Devices in April – so, even though my site might look dandy on a smartphone, if Google thinks it doesnt, it will rank the site lower.
The issue is probably css code I have edited or addiotns to the themes functions.php file.
Thanks again, Kronos.
David
Hi Kronos. The site test failed on viewport and links too close together. I installed Jetpack mobile friendly and that did the trick. If you go to my site using a google search you will notice that it lacks the “Mobile Friendly site” comment that Google places in the search results….
OK, here is what I have discovered. If I switch to “Show posts” in the reading settings of WP, it shows the Genesis Post Featured Widget – but it doesn’t show the home page (a default Template page in Epik.)
So, how can I get both my home page (static) and the latest posts widget (Genesis featured post in Home featured 14) to show?
Hi Eric, thanks again.
As stated above, I want it after the content on the home page – but above teh footer. And, I am using the page template which is simply called “Defualt”. i have not modified the home widgets in anyway.
Thanks for the link. I tried putting the Genesis widget in several Home Feature widgets – but nothing ever appears. The answer is probably really simple, but I just don’t know wherre to start looking.
Hi Eric, Thanks for the reply.
Which of the 14 home widgets would I put the Genesis Feeature Widget in? I have tried a few but nothing appears on the home page.
Also, when you say the widget needs to be set up properly, which widget do you mean? One of the Epik home widgets or the Genesis feature post widget?
Thanks.
I am working on it Wes. I will let you know how I go.
Thanks for making contact.
David
Hi Wes,
I wanted the widgets to appear on home page only. But I see that I was using a default page template for my home page and I needed to modify a couple of details in the Theme as Guilois has suggested above.
Thanks.
Thanks Guilois. I will give it a try and see what happens!
I have a static page as my home page and that page is using the default template.
I do not want posts on home page – Posts appear under a blog template page.
Is that an incorrect set up?
Thanks, Wes. Brilliant.
Wes,
I want to put in a header logo that 250x72px but the image tool in the Header editor wants to crop it. How can I put a logo that size in my header? Do I need to make css changes? I tried changing the css to this but it still wants to crop my logo.
.header-image .site-title a {
float: left;
min-height: 72px;
width: 250px;
}
Wes,
I see your demo header is much narrower than the default (mine) How can I narrow my header, is it possible?
I must be blind, sorry Wes. Of course the widget is already there. Thanks for the link to the Demo, I will take a look.
Thanks Wes. It worked. If you know of a more responsive way let me know the formula for calculating the correct percentage – otherwise, it all looks good.
Is there any way of utulising (via a widget or some other means) the large empty space on the right of the header area (above the search)?
David
Wes,
Thanks so much. I am new to Genesis and keep expecting things to be harder than they are. This is too easy! Thanks again.
Yes, Mallee Blue is my site – and yes, that’s your theme! I have the pressure now of doing your theme justice by running a decent site with it!
I will try your suggestion – and I assume that changing a “%” to a “px” is OK and won’t affect the responsive layout?
David
Bump. Yes, some customisation of the header would be great. At the moment I have a huge clickable area in my header with only one small image for my logo. The vast cliackable area seems redundant.
never-the-less, I am really liking this theme!
