Blog page widgets on Static non blog page

      Hi,

      I want the functionality of the Blog widgets (slider, welcome text etc) on a static page not my Blog.

      If I create a new template and add them there after registering them in functions.php, what happens to my edited functions.php when you guys roll out an update? Do I need to make a child theme to Optimal?

        You don’t really have to make a new child theme if you don’t want to. The functions file is pretty small and there isn’t that much done differently when there are updates. There may be some changes for the Genesis 2.0 update, but you could use a site like this – http://www.diffchecker.com/ to show the differences in code. It should be fairly easy.
