Being a real estate website, mine features several images per post. When I set up my Portfolio page earlier, I noticed that the it’s always the first picture in my post that automatically gets featured as a thumbnail.

Is there a way for me to choose the image that will be featured as a thumbnail?

    Thanks in advance, Wes.

The portfolio shows the featured image that you have uploaded as the thumbnail.  All other images that you have in the post will show below it (unless you use an excerpt or limit the content characters).  So you would upload the image that you want to be displayed as the thumbnail by using the featured image option.

Pardon me, Wes, but I’m not tech savvy in any way.

When I set up the Portfolio, I followed the instruction in the tutorial. I created a page and named it “Properties for Sale.” I posted a short introductory note and chose Portfolio in the lower right portion.

I have several posts under the category Properties for Sale and those are the posts that I included in my Portfolio/Properties for Sale page.

When I saved the settings, this is what appeared.

I did not upload any featured image as thumbnails; they just appeared as they are, as if randomly.

I want to change some thumbnail images but I don’t know how.

    Thanks

The images that you are seeing are your featured images.  You uploaded Featured Images and it looks like you uploaded Post Images as well.  The only images that can show above the title on the portfolio template are the Featured Images that you upload.  The Post images (images that you insert into the post) will not show above the title on the portfolio, only Featured Images can.  The post images will show on the post page.

So, how do I designate an image as a featured image when I have several images in each of my posts?

    Thanks Wes.

You would simply click the Featured Image link at the bottom right of the post editor.

Featured Images are different than the ones you enter in the post itself – http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Thumbnails

Got it working. I didn’t know it was that easy.

Thanks a lot Wes, you have been very patient with me.

    Best regards!
