Different Nav color with header image

Am using Epik 1.3.

I want a different color nav bar from the header but can’t figure out how to do it. One option is this site which uses a header image:

I tried to upload a different colored header image of size 1152×120 but WP wants to crop it. That size was okay in Epik 1.2 but has been changed in 1.3 to be much smaller. I suppose there was a reason.

What is the best way to get the look of with Epik 1.3?

The epik 1.3 theme is 1140px wide instead of 1152px. If you’re asking how to change the header background, take a look at #head-wrap in your css depending on which color you’re using. That’s how you would change the background color.

Sorry for the confusion. When I try to put in a header image, WordPress says it will crop it to 360 × 164. This is much smaller than the 1140 you mention.

However, it is accomplished, I want the site to look like this: http://www.jonloomer.com/

It looks like he uses a wide image.

I played with the #head-wrap you mention. That changes the background of the menu bar. I want them menu bar a different color than the header above it. Again, like http://www.jonloomer.com/

First you would need to find out the exact size of your image, then you would need to edit the image size in your functions.php file before you add your logo. WordPress uses whatever the size in your functions file is as the default image size. So once you change it you won’t have to crop anything and it will upload automatically.
