Hi I placed text widget in the Front Page 2 widget and the Featured Section 1 Image disappeared. I removed the text widget thinking it would come back, but nothing.

I removed the image and replaced it, nothing

I placed the default image, and nothing

Lastly, I placed an empty text widget in Front Page 1 widget and the image is back. Is this normal? I know this widget is set to show an email opt-in, but I may not use it or use it for such purposes.

      See: http://us16.siteground.us/~easterhi/

Please advise. Is there a way to show the Featured Image Section 1 image without populating the Front Page 1 widget area?

Everything appears to be working fine on my end. You have an empty text in the Front Page 1 widget area, so that’s why the background image shows up since the widget is only activated if you add a widget inside of it.

Your Front Page 2 widget area has no widgets inside of that particular widget location, so it’s not supposed to show or be activated. This means the next available widget location that is activated is supposed to show immediately right after Front Page 1 (which in this case would be Front Page 3).

You should be able to add a Text widget instead of the eNews Subscription widget, or any type of widget you want inside of the Front Page 2 widget area. Here is an example of me using a Text widget inside of the Front Page 2 widget location – http://i.imgur.com/EoSv0PL.png

If you look at the demo, every widget/section that you see with a background image is linked to that particular widget location. If you use one of those widget areas, then the background image assigned to it will automatically show. You can change the background image using the customizer if you prefer. If you want to remove/prevent background images from showing, then you would need to edit the CSS or the template files directly.

What type of widget are you trying to add to the Front Page 2 widget location?
