      Hi Wes,

Awhile back I added padding to this widget as you suggested and it seemed ok. Later I needed some more room for text and I made a few more simple adjustments…but obviously something is amiss. I have avoided writing this for about 10 days as I’ve tried to fix it in every way. No luck though. If I add the widget but without content, the Header looks unchanged. If I add text, it appears as black font at about 16px. When I add html to change the font size or color back to white, the header corrupts and the entire screen turns red. I can have a pic in the widget and that’s fine, but when I add text to the right-aligned pic, the text sits further to the right then it used to. So I’ve left the empty widget there in case you decide to check it.

I have only recently learned a little bit about viewing Source Code from the Develop Menu, and that is a little helpful…but I need to learn more. So, in lieu of never using the Header widget again, I’ve included the editor header info for you to quickly scan…

If you can, please let me know if you see an obvious error that I can fix. Thanx Wes/Eric

Do you have a link where this is taking place? Posting code here directly or a screenshot won’t be enough, I’d need a link in order to be able to see what’s going on if you can.

Also, can you explain what you’re trying to do exactly? I’m a little confused. I read what all you wrote, but I’m not exactly sure what the issue is, or what you’re trying to do.

          Gee Wes,

So quik response… well right now I’d like the option of some image in the widget, but at this moment I’d just like to insert some encouraging message to visitors. I had both a pic + text in the Genesis image widget and I could html the text for size & color. Now I’ve lost that ability… really sorry to bother you with this.

You mentioned you “lost that ability“…..are you saying your “Header Right” widget area isn’t working? That’s where you would add your image/content if you want it to appear in the header (for the right side). If you have added something there and it’s not showing, can you add it there again so I can take a look to see what’s going on?

              Hi Wes,

OK, so now I am more then a bit embarrassed. Ever go to a doctor with a pain somewhere but by the time you got into the doctor’s office the pain was gone? So now, after a week of really difficult times with a distorted header, missing text and more… the Header is actually working now and I just don’t know why. I inserted an image-widget into the header widget and the image displayed correctly; then I added text into the widget and it didn’t distort the entire header which was happening; then I used html to change the text size & color and it also didn’t distort the header which happened yesterday again; then I removed the image-widget and replaced it with a text-widget and added html to change the text size & color and there it is sitting on my website and really Wes… I just don’t understand this at all. Things are settled down I guess…

I really apologize because I’m not one to waste your time and I thank you for the time you’ve given to me. Now while I have your eyes here,

I planned to upgrade Genesis to the latest version over the holidays when things get slow. I didn’t realize that there was a new version of Legacy until very recently. Is there any reason to upgrade my Legacy version to the latest version?

              Thank you Wes,
Have an enjoyable Holiday Season and a successful New Year,

              Tom Dolan

You wouldn’t need to upgrade unless you want the HTML5 markup. You can still upgrade Genesis to the latest version, but if you want the HTML5 markup then you would have to upgrade.
