I understand that WP modifies image files to conform to the Image Size definitions and that it will hard crop if that option is on for a particular size or scale the image until it best fits the width of the assigned image size definition.

Are all image size definitions in the basic WP or Genesis or the Child theme or some combination?  I want to know which image size options are available so that I may have a better prediction as to the modifications by the program(s) but I do not know where I need to look for all active or disabled image size definitions except in the functions.php of the Child Theme.

      Thanks, Dan

Which images are you referring to? (Blog featured image, Portfolio image, Genesis Featured Page or Post widgets images)

All of the magic (process) is done through WordPress and the Genesis Framework itself, but you can assign certain sizes for specific areas like the Portfolio page (for example) by adding and specifying sizes in your child theme’s function file. You can also add image sizes in your child theme to be used for your Blog Featured Images (images that show up on your main blog page). You can select one of the sizes from your functions file in your Genesis theme settings page under Content Archives then check the box that says – Include the Featured Image?

“Which images are you referring to?”

All image defs in the system for my install, with no added/deleted customization – yet..  I know I can change them but before I can do that intelligently I need to know where all the definitions are.  If I read other support sites correctly, the only defs are in the Child Theme functions.php file and not in any others either by ommission or by disabling.  If that is the case then I know where to look and modify.

So the question remains:  Where and in what file(s) are the image defs?

The child theme image sizes are located in the functions file, but you’ve already seen this, right?

I found the following:  WordPress Standard in Settings/Media Settings ( Thumbnail, Medium, Large, and Full.)  Then if applicable, Genesis Slider in Genesis/Slider Setting.  Then Child theme functions.php by theme author are Featured Image, Featured Sidebar, Home Featured Posts, and Portfolio Thumbnail.   Finally, there are the the additions in Child Theme functions.php by site administrator.  The various locations can be confusing, but I have been able locate them.  This, obviously, only applies to my install setup.  Some of us come at a web site from a design, and not a blog or programmer vision.   We are more obsessed with image control.  Appreciate your theme and your help.
