I saw the instructions for updating Ally, and the recommendation to do it manually if there have been changes made to the style.css. I’m new to Genesis, so this brings up a question I have about Genesis themes: Since Genesis is the actual “theme”, and Ally, or Epik, and the others are actually “child” themes, is it appropriate to create another child theme in which you put your customizations to style.css, etc.? Or will you always have to manually update this type of child theme?
Thanks!
Yes you could create another css file and link to it from your child theme’s style.css file. I’ve seen others suggest here that you could also add a custom area in your stylesheet…..but you would have to copy the custom code area into the new version if there’s a major update.
The first suggestion would probably be best.
