Paragraph with class of "lead" not having style applied

I’ve worked with many genesis themes.

I’ve added a class “lead” to a p tag and added the syntax to the stylesheet and it simply will not apply the style to the paragraph. I’m thoroughly stumped

down below line 2260, I’ve added:
.lead p {font-size:22px;font-weight:400;color:#000;}

just before the media queries

I’ve added the class to the first paragraph tag on a page and it will not apply the style.

Using Firebug, I don’t even see the class within the style there, but if I view the stylesheet, it’s certainly there.

IN any other genesis theme, this is pretty straight forward.

What am I missing?
