Sidebar adjustment for Medium Rectangles

I changed

.sidebar

from a width of 280px to 300px to accomodate medium rectangle advertising (300×250).

Do I need to then take out those twenty pixels elsewhere?

It depends, only if you are having issues in other areas, like your content. If not, then it should be fine.
