      Hello,

If I check the demo http://demo.appfinite.net/epik/ and test the page speed using Google developer tools, I got this result: http://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdemo.appfinite.net%2Fepik%2F&tab=mobile

      52/100 on Mobile
      and 64/100 on Desktop

Which is marked as red according to this tool.

I have the same issue with my site built on Epik theme.

Do you know how we can improve performance?

Their theme demos are installed on a separate server which dosn’t have the same load times/speed as the main site (appfinite.com). The main site loads fast, but the demos load quickly as well, just not as fast since they’re on a separate server. If your site is slow it could be due to the images you’re using, and the server/host you’re using to load those images. If you’re on a cheap/inexpensive host, then any theme you use will not load as fast as a premium host.

On the Google results it shows that they recommend some javascript improvements and a couple other things….these are all outside of the child theme and have to do with the Genesis framework itself since there is no javascript being used for the Epik theme on home pages/blogs etc.

You can check out a caching plugin like w3 total cache (or any caching plugin) and that will also help decrease your load times.

I personally don’t rely 100% on websites that offer these load times and results. Many of them are not accurate and each one offers different results. I have Epik installed on a few client sites and they all load extremely fast, but if I used one of the analyzers it would probably show a different result. My sites load fast because I use Web Synthesis software since it was designed for WordPress and the Genesis Framework specifically….which is why they load so quickly.

I agree, Web Synthesis hosting is incredibly fast. You may want to also check out a new product that StudioPress offers called Accelerator – http://my.studiopress.com/accelerator/

            Hello Eric,

Thanks for the comment. Can you share a link to the sites based on Epik Child theme and hosted with Web Synthesis?
I don’t have any problems with the hosting, we use a VPS and we also use a cache. It’s not hosted related.
We run other genesis child themes that load faster with the same hosting.
I have noted that the problems that google shows on results are due to Javascript and CSS.
Maybe those can be corrected with W3 total cache.
Can you share the settings used in order to improve that?

            Many thanks

The javascript they are referring to is actually coming from the Genesis Slider plugin and the Responsive menu. Other than that all other javascript is coming from the framework and not the child theme.

The Genesis Slider is a separate plugin (not included in the theme).

The responsive menu is added in the theme the exact same way as every other Genesis theme and I’ve honestly not seen any issues in load times because of it.

I actually get the same results when testing other SP Genesis themes as well, which is why I don’t worry too much about it since they still seem to load fast. I think analyzers will always show some type of error even if it’s not a real issue.
