Hi Andy, thanks for the prompt reply. I can use a plugin to add widgets already, what I want to be able to do is add the look of the Epik theme homepage widget areas to other pages – you know the black, dark grey and white horizontal zones. Is that possible?
Awesome as always, thank you 馃檪
One question though Wes, hopefully you can help:
My homepage is now full width using the fix noted previously, but my footer is also full width. How do I fix the footer to keep it at the previous width of 1040px (i think that’s the default width) while keeping the main content full width?
Thanks!
**RESOLVED**
I added the following
.epik-landing .wrap {
margin: 0;
width: auto;
max-width: none;
}
The line: max-width: none; fixes the width, now it’s full width. Cheers!
Hi Wes,
I was working on this again and thanks for the info provided. It does wok, a little bit, but not fully.
I added the code and now the content sits on the left of the page, but doesn’t expand to fit the full screen width.
See my example test page here: http://www.jonathon.co/test-full-width/
I guess this only needs a little tweaking, can you help? What I want is the Justified Image Grid to expand to fit the full width of the screen on any device, and to be responsive to fit any screen size.
If I add the Justified Image Grid shortcode to Slider Wide on my homepage then I get the effect I want perfectly, but I’d prefer to be able to do this on a landing page.
Many thanks!
Hi Wes, sure the link is:
I reduced the logo size and re-uploaded, which is fine, but i thought it would automatically shrink to fit?
Resolved using Genesis simple hooks plugin.
Hi Terence, I just saw this post and the link. I tried this, but i still can’t get the page to be a proper full width – the content is still restricted within a container of some sort.
See my page here: http://www.jonathon.co/family-portrait-photographer/
The photos on this page are displayed with a slider plugin – i want the slider to fill the entire page, but this container is restricting the view. I’m sure it’s pretty straightforward to remove the container, but I’m not a programmer and i’m not sure how to get the solution i want….and i can;t see anything on Google (I’ve spent a few hours trying to figure this out 馃檨
Any help is appreciated!
Anyone? Wes? The default ‘full width’ seems to be 1140 pixels, but that’s not what I require. How do I make a page that is the same as the full width slider on Epik’s homepage, that’s what I mean by full width, not 1140.
Thanks!
Thanks for that Andykev, you’ve been very helpful, I appreciate it.
Anyone able to advise please?
Sorry the link to my site didn’t appear above, I’ll try again: Jonathon Fowler Photography
Update to question 2: I figured how to get the changes to appear when logged out – clear browser and W3total cache.
Update to question 3: I would be happy to keep the main menu if there was a way to hide it by default, with the option to click to make it open again.
Thanks!
Thanks Eric, I used a template on the page and now it matched the homepage – thank you!
Hi Wes,
My site is at http://www.jonathon.co
I’ve managed to create a new homepage as shown in your tutorial, thank you for that.
When the new homepage is activated by using the widgets, my old homepage becomes a regular page on my site. I just wanted to check if it is OK to delete that page now. I expect that it is fine to delete.
Regarding SEO, do you have any info about this? Does using widgets for the homepage affect SEO, either positively or negatively?
Thanks!
Fixed, I tried againand this time it worked.
