Hi guys having trouble updating to the latest version of optimal theme. Here take a look at this website http://veedigital.com/. Since the only way to install the latest version 1.3 is to delete the old theme. Here’s what I did step by step.
    1. deactivate theme and use twenty twelve theme.
    2. Delete Optimal 1.2.1
    3. Update WordPress to the latest version
    4. Update Genesis Framework theme to the latest version
    5. Upload Optimal 1.3 and activate.

    Here’s the problem.
    1. Widgets are not showing – I have tried removing and adding all the widgets again but no matter what I do they won’t appear on the homepage or anywhere else.

NOTE: When I installed 1.2 version of Optimal I used import sample content using the .xml file on the theme and replaced the content with ours.

    What’s on my mind.
    1. Clear the database of the website and have all things set up again including post and pages.

PS. Please let me know your thoughts. Is there a better way to upgrade into the latest version with out loosing all that has been set up? Is there a way to preserve the post and pages that is already on the website?

    thank you.. Vee

The only thing you need to do is delete the old theme and install the new one. That’s it. The widgets should be able to sync with the new theme since they should be labeled the exact same. If not, you could still just move them from the “inactive” widget area and add them back into their places.

If your widgets aren’t showing up on your homepage, make sure your homepage is setup properly. Take a look here for how to setup homepages that use home widgets – http://appfinite.com/tutorials/how-to-setup-the-home-and-blog-page/

BTW, your post was moved here to a separate thread since the other thread was starting to get mixed with multiple questions/issues from multiple users. In the future please create a separate thread for each topic/question you have. There is a “One question per thread policy” to help keep things organized. Please make sure and take a look at the rules if you’re new here – http://appfinite.com/topic/forum-rules/

Let me know once you get everything setup.

Hi there Eric, thanks for the quick reply. I’ve tried what you say but it didn’t worked. The widgets won’t come out! By the way I haven’t done any customization on the website. Is anyone having the same problem here?

I actually don’t have a skype login. But I can still help either way.

What is wrong with the portfolio? This is it right? – http://veedigital.com/pre-done-mobile-responsive-websites/showcase

You may have already seen this, but they’ve added some basic tutorials for the portfolio here – http://appfinite.com/tutorials/

The only thing I see wrong with your portfolio are the posts that don’t line up right. Wes is providing a fix for this soon, but you can add this to your portfolio file now instead of having to wait – http://appfinite.com/topic/portfolio-not-lining-out-on-the-left-side/#post-7496
