Hi, I’m running Epik 1.5 with Genensis 2.6.1 and I don’t know how to let you see the source code as I would have to switch off the “coming soon”-page, which would reveal the site in development behind. I cannot do this.
I got it managed to change the header color now plus insert a logo. Now I’s struggling to change the footer, where it says ” Copyright © 2018 · Epik on Genesis Framework · WordPress · Log out” I want to change color and text. Where and how to do this?
Update: I just found out that I have only 3 default layouts in Genesis available instead of 6. https://postimg.cc/LnfQLh56 << how it has to be
https://postimg.cc/NK2fsTkD << how it actually is
In my other websites where I use Epik, I have the version 1.4 with Genesis 2.6.1
Hi Wes, I tried to edit the mage link but I won’t let me do it.
This is the link to the image, you see there one of my other websites using the Eoik Theme: https://postimg.cc/image/o9c62254h/
Here comes the link to the future website: https://caprivicommerce.com
Update: I found the old threads of mine, kronos is recommending me the following solution:
If it’s the background color (the entire color that surrounds the background of the header) then you would adjust this in your css. Look for this in your css – .head-wrap and you can change the background color from there.
Unfortunately, CSS StringLlocator plug-in is telling me that I don’t have this piece of code 🙁
Yes, Eric, I have seen this but haven’t helped me; be patient did the job for me…
I have found now – by a lucky coincidence – that this problem seemed to be browser related. Yesterday night I was working in a different computer which only had IE and Firefox; I used Firefox. I changed on all Sub-domains successfully the colors and just for fun tried it on the main-domain as well and voila it worked suddenly. So, I don’t know how different from other Browsers Chrome is doing the caching, I repeated the experiment today and still working on Firefox and IE – except if I use Chrome I can’t change colors. I emptied the Chromes cache and nothing, I un-, and then re-installed, now I can change colors even when I’m using Chrome. Very strange!
Anyway, many thanks for offering me hands-on help; this is awesome, not a lot of people are doing this nowadays. 🙂
Thank you Eric, I will work through it. However, from an aesthetic point of view I must say it looks excellent as part of the Slider-area. So I will not change it again.
Hi, Eric, sure I could do this, but I cannot post the credentials here….
Yes first changed them from black to green and all worked good, then I installed this horrible caching-plugin and since I did this I wasn’t able to change the colors again. I uninstalled this plugin, rolled back the DB to a pre-installation state – nothing helped, my site remains green.
Not for the Header since I don’t know where to put in the code but it runs smooth in the Slider: http://wmss-teak.com/
Hi Eric, sorry for my late reply. Sure, here you go: http://wmss-teak.com/
Hi Scooby, many thanks for this. Now it works as expected 🙂
Hi scooby, no I have no link since I put the website only then online when I’m working on it. On top of it I have removed the Home-menu since it did not work. I did it exactly as Wes told me:
You would create your menu first, then go to your widgets and drag a “Custom Menu” widget to the “Header Right” widget area. You won’t need to enable the Primary or Secondary menu locations since the Header Right widget area will show your Custom Menu widget.
All menus are working as expected but the Home-menu, in this case a new page /home-2 is created and I don’t want this. If I click on my headers logo, I’ll get directed back to the home page and that is what I want.
Nobody??? 🙁
I need that Home – Button…
I found now that NextGEN Gallery works pretty good, even in the Free version. Loading time could be better. 🙂
Update 2 and solved: I disabled all plugins since it was too weird, that I wasn’t able to re-size and even review the featured images I already had in my pages. It appeared that the Fluid Responsive Slideshow Plugin was the guilty, I uninstalled it.
Now assigning featured images and re-sizing and cropping works like a charm again. My slideshow isn’t still like I want it but at least this prob has been solved now. 🙂
Update: Found how to get rid of written content, it can be done by simple unhooking the option in the content settings of Genesis Responsive Slider:
Content Settings
make a hook>> Do not link Slider image to Post/Page.
unhook>> Display Post/Page Title in Slider?
unhook>> Display Content in Slider?
make a hook >> Hide Title & Content on Mobile Devices
Still to solve the Re-sizing problem 🙂
Hi again, a little update here:
After having tried a plethora of slideshow and image gallery products I decided to work with NextGEN Gallery. The Free version is pretty complete and the gallery looks perfect on all mobile devices. Whats sucks is that it messes up my websites URL http://example.com/our-teak/nggallery/page/9
As you can see it adds a “nggallery” to the link. I don’t like that product and software-names are shown in my links, reason because I eliminated all signs of WP in links. Unfortunately I haven’t found any solution so far for this issue.
Thank you Eric, I am aware that WP has this feature, I have used it before. My concern is, that I have a responsive Theme and of course I want to have a responsive Gallery. I haven’t found where is said that the WP Gallery-feature creates responsive Galleries.
It makes not a lot of sense that the Theme looks all nice on mobile devices but when the visitor comes to see the pictures all sucks.
Thank you for your support, Wes; I understand now.
This is resolved! I found a problem with Plugins and in my .htacess – file.
If after Multisite-network install no Theme is shown, then add disable all Plugins in the Networkadmin-Panel and add the following lines in your .htacess file:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
# add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
RewriteRule ^wp-admin$ wp-admin/ [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
RewriteRule ^ – [L]
RewriteRule ^(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $1 [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*\.php)$ wp/$1 [L]
RewriteRule . index.php [L]

Hi, no your code is for the footer widget zone; which I had already identified.
I was referring to the Footer starting at line 2707:
/*
Site Footer
—————————————————————————————————- */.site-footer {
background: #1a1a1a;
color: #aaa;
font-size: 14px;
font-size: 0.875rem;
text-align: center;
}
I learned that I have to change the color to Cerulean Blue | Hex #2A52BE
Also changed font color to #fff.
Thank you for your help 🙂
Many thanks !!
Thank you but I refer to the headers background, there where the logo comes in and the Menubar is. It’s black now but I want it Cerulean..
Here you go http://www.expat2expat.org/
Arjan, you haven’t said you want to have the slideshow working…:(
Hi kronos, background color, I think…
Hi Arjan, please look at these screenshots 🙂
http://imgur.com/C3CtW8z “Drag and drop a Widget”
http://imgur.com/lKUu9zl “Stack them and fill in the code”
You must click on these screenshots in order to see them bigger.
I don’t know how to post images here -sorry.
Hi, I had to learn first to understand which widget comes where; you can see the locations here: https://appfinite.com/topic/epik-widgets-guide/
Once you know on which widget you want to work on, you go on your WP Dashboard to APPEARANCE>>WIDGETS where you move with drag and drop the needed widgets onto the right side, which is the Feature-side.
/Update:
I even learned that Widgets can be stacked; that was new to me 🙂
A Widget can be stacked in the way that we drag and drop a second Text-widget from the left side into the Home Feature Box on the right side.
Now, it looks like expected.
That enables me to work finally on the Home Feature #3, where I would like to put in three images with floating text and buttons under.
Haven’t found a thread so far.
How to scale the images to the size I want and how to put a button in?
Hi Eric, thank you for your reply. I did like Wes showed in the tutorial and it does not work for me or better said – not as expected; have a look here, please:

It must be possible to format the text with images, so that we have on both sides [Home Feature #1 Left / Home Feature #2 Right] the same optical appearance. I tried to achieve this somehow by copying the code from the demo into my theme but that ended up disastrous.
Well, this is the result so far and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
http://imgur.com/QkrmfhT
For the Home Feature #1 (Left) I use the following code:
https://gist.github.com/anonymous/8658780
For the Home Feature #2 (Right) I use actually the same.
Any idea how to get this working?
Have missed something, I used links to local-host since I run a clone of this site, so after correcting them all is fine 🙂
I’m writing down all my findings and step by step what I have done and I have to say “wow” – web design is a hard and time consuming job.
Once I finished my website I will put it (the tutorial) online with a few nice pics and videos.
Now, going to work on Home Feature #1 (Left) and Home Feature #2 (Right):
How to format it properly, that I end up with 4 icons with text?
Oops sorry haven’t seen your reply, forgot to refresh my browser, many thanks Eric!
Do you also know how to bring in there images?
I found a thread where was said to put in the following code:
<h4>Mobile Responsive Design</h4>
<p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit.</p>
If I open the Welcome Feature #1 Tab in Appearance>>Widgets>>Welcome Feature #1 and put the code in [of course with the proper link adjustments] only the Text i shown buy not the image.
Have i missed something or does this code is wrong?
Good morning, yes I know this Plugin and have this already installed; I will run it once I have replaced the images with these I actually want to have shown in this page. The images I use now are only for demo purposes.
However, now I’m working on the “Welcome Features #1 – #3.
I have found a sticky thread from Wes, where is said how to put in text and images at http://goo.gl/qY3jQL
That’s very nice , but how to change font and background color. I found a thread where you explain it at http://goo.gl/6oV12Z BUT unfortunate I can’t find this portion of code which I believe has to be in the style.css file. I feel your answer refers to an previous version of Epik.
The “Welcome” section in the current styles.css version starts at line #1229, have a look at the screenshot of the code snippet http://goo.gl/KlSpg3
Do I have to make the changes for color there?
Well, that’s fabulous, I have this Slider running – still not perfect but I understand now how this is working; many thanks Eric for your link to the Genesis Responsive Slider Video.
You can see the result here: http://www.expat2expat.org/
Now I would like to know how to manipulate the images in such a way that all have the same size and bring the text under the images.
Do you know?
Thank you Eric for your reply. I know the forum rules. The thread or issue here is how to configure the template so that it looks exactly like in the demo since I bought it because of this appearance. Therefore I don’t feel that it’s necessary to open a new thread for each issue arising out of this “basic-issue”. I would say I work through it here entirely in this sole thread and let ask Wes once finished to make it Sticky; I could imagine that 50% of all support questions will become obsolete then. How cool is this?
I have now made a general layout following my list and the widget locator, that one gets an idea where to start first, I have it uploaded on my Dropbox:
http://goo.gl/gtyZBQ
I will now work on the Slider – tutorial on Youtube and report back.
So, analyzing the demo and comparing it with what is shown at the widget locator found at https://appfinite.com/topic/epik-widgets-guide/ the Epik demo-structure and plan to work on is the following [for the frontpage]:
1. Header with menu’s.
2. Slider widget with images [1,140px × 400px]
3. Welcome widget with subsequent [Welcome feature widgets #1-#3].
4. Home feature 9 with subsequent [Home feature widgets #10-#13].
[Followed by a couple of Home features of same width but different heights].
5. Home feature with text widget containing: image left [400px × 580px] – text right.
6. Home feature with text widget containing: text left – image right [605px × 320px (scaled to 547px × 289px)].
7. Home feature with text widget containing: image left [689px × 450px (scaled to 547px × 357px)] – text right.
8. Home feature with text widget containing: text left – image right [620px × 500px (scaled to 547px × 441px)].
9. Home feature with text widget containing: image left [640px × 450px (scaled to 547px × 385px)] – text right.
10. Home feature [small] with image centered [1,152px × 80px (scaled to 1,140px × 79px)], that is the grey logo section.
11. Home feature with 4 images centered all [276px × 318px (scaled to 272px × 313px)] – text under. WTf is a div-wrap and how to put it in?? o.O
12. Home feature 9 with subsequent [Home feature widgets #10-#13]. This is the payment plan. It seems like a table with text inside and under the table. Purchase button.
13. Footer with subsequent Footer widgets #1-#3.
I found the following Addons are needed in order to get this theme running as shown in the demo:
1. Gravity forms [ I paid 39$ for 1 year subscription – I feel there are other option for less or no money in the wild]
2. Genesis Responsive Slider
3. Regenerate Thumbnails
4. Simple Social Icons
Now we can go on configuring step by step the frontpage and I’m currently fighting with #2 from above list: The Slider
Have a look at: http://www.expat2expat.org/
Hillarious, isn’t it?!
Can someone tell me from where this thing picks the images which are shown and how to convince the slider to show what I want AND how to change the slider windows height?!
Many thanks in advance.
So I found now the search function here and a similar thread where is said:
“If you take a look in your Read Me file you’ll see that the documentation/tutorials and code snippets can be found at the top of the Epik forum – https://appfinite.com/forum/epik-theme-support/ They are the highlighted (yellow) sticky posts at the very top of the forum. That is exactly how you can setup the homepage to look just like the demo, if that’s what you want.”
Well, in the Readme.text the templates features are generally explained, nothing else than this. The Sticky posts are nice, best part is the location guide – however there are code snippets and only god knows where and how to use them or put them in.
