      Yes!!! It worked!

      Thank you so much, Eric!

Just one final question to get it just right.

The borders are just a little bit too high. It’d be nice if the text in the menu items can be vertically centered to the height of the border. I know that’s impossible and that the best way to do that is adjust the size of the menu item.

Do you know how I can adjust the size of the menu items so that the borders become a little a bit smaller?

      Thank you in advance!

      Regards,

      Hashim

        Dear Eric,

Unfortunately that didn’t work. I tried adding the border as you suggested. I tried it again with left and right borders. But without success.

It should look something like this:

        menu1 | menu2 | menu3 | menu4

I’ve tried using borders but the problem is that the far left and far right sides of the menu shouldn’t have a border. When I add a right border, the right border also appears at the far right which is something what shouldn’t happen. Same goes for the left border.

Do you think you can help me out with this?

        Thank you in advance!

        Regards,

        Hashim

          Thank you Eric,

I’ve been struggling with this for so long, and you really helped me out! Thanks a lot!

I hope you can help me out with another menu-issue. I’d like to have small vertical lines between the menu items in the header. And I’ve been trying to do that with borders. The problem is that if I place a right border for the menu items, I also get a vertical line at the end of the menu while the end right side shoudn’t have that line and similar with the left border.

Do you know how to get vertical lines between the menu items without having those lines on the far left and far right sides of the menu? Also it’d be great of the menu in the header could be centered vertically. It seems a little too near to the top as it is right now. Do you know how to do that?

          Thank you in advance!

          Regards,

          Hashim

              Thank you, Scooby!

At the moment of your visit to to the website, I was experimenting with a different theme. But your answer is really helpful. I’m not that familiar with css but I’ve purchased the Genesis Extender Plugin and I trust that I’ll be able to make the customization with it.

              Thank you for your answer!

              Sincerely,

                    Dear Eric,

                    Thank you for your advice!

I purchased the Genesis Extender Plugin and managed to adjust the static homepage so that there’s a text widget next to the slider, like this:

                    http://aziemafatima.com

Don’t mind the colors and other stuff because I’m still working on it and haven’t launched the site officially yet. The only thing I need to know is what the ideal size is for the slider and the pictures with the design as how I’ve got it right now. Do you know how I can find out?

I’ve got another question about the navigation menu, but I’ll start a new topic for it to keep it organized on the forum.

                    Thank you for your help!

                    Sincerely,

                    Hashim

                      Dear Eric,

Thank you! I used the plugin and the images show in the right size now.

This question is now completely answered.

I’d like to ask you one other question which also fits the title of this topic.

Is it possible to place a Text widget on the left of the slider? I noticed that this amazing theme has got Home Feature 1 & 2. That would be perfect. Is it possible to place the Slider widget in one of those Home Features so I can put a Text widget next to the slider? And maybe also change the two widget areas so that the slider takes about sixty five percent of the width and the remaining width goes to the text. Or maybe you’ve got a better solution for this. Also what do I need to do to change the size of the slider to fit into that widget area?

                      Thank you in advance!

                      Sincerely,

                      Hashim

                        Dear Eric,

Thank you for trying to help!

I contacted the owner of the website about the non-working link. And his site underwent a design change, so he moved his post. The correct URL to the post I mentioned is:

                        http://jackabox.co.uk/blog/toggle-a-search-box-with-jquery

Also Anitac of the StudioPress Community Forums mentioned that Wes who designed the Epik theme should be able to tell me where to place the code of the post I mentioned. But maybe you can also.

                        Thank you in advance!

                        Sincerely,

                          Dear Eric,

                          Thank you for your suggestions!

I’ve been playing around with the float and width functions of #header.widget but unfortunately that doesn’t provide the outcome I’m looking for. Somehow the float function only effects the navigation menu and I can’t seem to find the proper place to adjust the widths of the navigation menu or search menu. When I try to define a width for #header.widget it stacks the elements on top of each other, except when I use 50% as the width. But you can see for yourself what the outcome is:

                          http://www.laylamajnun.nl

                          and the difference with:

                          http://www.amylynnandrews.com

I’ve received this answer from the StudioPress Community Forums:

                          ‘That’s called Search Toggle or Toggle Search – here’s instructions – http://jackwhiting.co.uk/2012/toggle-a-search-box-with-jquery/#.’

But on the suggested webpage it’s mentioned that it’s necessary to add html. Do I really have to make the changes in the header.php document of the Genesis theme or is there another way to do this?

                          Thank you in advance!

                          Sincerely,

                            Hi Eric,

                            Thank you for responding!

This the url that leads to my website:

                            http://www.laylamajnun.nl

I also tried the Header Right Widget area. But it places the search box underneath the navigation menu in the header. And I’m really looking for a design like on this site:

                            http://www.amylynnandrews.com

I’m really looking forward to your suggestions.

                            Thank you in advance!
