Without being in the back end rummaging around its gonna be hard to say why one works and another doesnt but lets take a systematic approach – the dates on these posts are quite ancient as it seems might be the theme – what are you using for a theme? Are there any wordpress or theme or plugin updates needing to be done? Some older ones work and so do some now ones so no obvious clues there – and that json function is that a theme call or a plugin call – what are you using to discplay the posts?
First thing I would personally do is to create a new post and put the basics of your content into it and see if it borks!
1. TITLE – Test post, IMAGE upload a new copy, DESCRIPTION – short and sweet test description – NO PUNCTUATION and NO LINKS
2. If it works, swap it out with what you want it to say one piece at a time till it breaks or work
3. If that doesnt work – duplicate a working post and add your borked content to the working copy
Not much help but troubleshooting can be frustrating! Good luck!

Thanks, Wes!
Thanks Wes! Got it – I thought there was another revision since the one posted there but I guess not – All is well with that tho – still a go to favorite…
Hi Jeff,
I must concur with Wes that Epik works fine with gutenberg, the problem IMHO is that gutenberg is not ready to be consumed…
Being a big fan of epik with a number of my sites running it with complicated code and webbadassery I became worried on seeing your post… SO i went to the web site of my FAVORITE client and immediately upgraded everything, plugins and all, to their latest versions (after i made a backup of course).
It was immediately confusing and distressing like any new development environment is but I noticed that a lot of things I have come to depend on in the editor not only were not there but were inaccessable. Yuk. C’mon wordpress? I mean one of the MAIN reasons for wordpress’s continued success is the ease at which coders and designers can apply fancy schmancy details to an otherwise boring CMS based blog application… If i cant do that, i may as well go back to coding my own php or shtml (remember shtml?)…
So my solution, since I figured I had mirrored your situation close enough for my comfort was to just disable the thing using a plugin made by the wordpress contributors…
https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/
Push that gutenberg stuff out of the way and get back to work. They are gonna support the classic editor till 2022 so I think I will wait till 2020 before I try Gutenberg again. Once the bugs are worked out…

Wes, where can i find the latest version of Epik? Mine seems to be 1.5 and i would hve sworn there was a newer variant.
Thanks
Believe it or not this turned out to be an SSL thing and i will leave it at that.
Hi Wes. The theme still rocks by the way – setting up 2 more sites with it and the customers are loving it…
I figured out why it was hanging and it was a conflict unrelated to the theme – er well it was related to the theme but not the fault of the theme – there was an image on the first pages that was at an http location and the server/theme didnt like that – I changed its url to https and all was good again. So I am keeping an eye out for that whenever I have a theme or site go squiffy performance wise. Thanks again for the understanding!
That Worked. If I wasnt so hypersensitive to criticism I would respond to your post with “Ok, I suck!” but since i am i will go with “Darn, I shoulda seen that.”
– Thanks Wes
p.s. But I got another one for ya and will post it in a new thread…
I just redid an import with the new imported and a couple failed.

I actually cannot remember specifically what it was I wanted when I made this post – I should have elaborated just to be able to remind myself… Durr…
AH! I think my client wanted me to illustrate how the widgets are deactivate at will…
I am getting closer but it seems there is custom css mission for the widgets.
Clay
Hrmmm. I fixed this and was so delighted that I did fix this I felt I had to post how I did it but for the life of me i cant remember how I did it now… Durr.
Yea – I didnt quite find anything that worked the way I wanted it to – so i looked at it in a different way and was able to use the genesis slider after all – its not super flashy but it is what the client wanted AND what i wanted to do for them… Thanks again Wes.
YARP – that was all it took – I am getting a little long in the tooth i think when i could not find that word-wrap: normal; tag! Sheesh – I had the nowrap tag stuck in my noggin and could not get past it… I even searched for a “nowrap css alternative” and the whole interweb didnt help at all…
Thanks Wes
Wes – I agree – I had to ask because my client just doesn’t want to understand why it doesn’t work the way they want it to – so I had to ask. I looked around and for the life of me could not find a standalone or hack for this. It kinda makes sense and i am sure someone wanted something like this for their site before my client BUT I still don’t see any easy way to do it.
Believe it or not the short term solution is to delete the featured and attached image associations and only have images in the actual pages… Because it doesn’t sort in an obscure and confusing way – they dump the images from all the portfolio indexes… Oh well.
Thanks again for taking the time Wes! Cheers!
Any one have any ideas abouT this? The client FINALLY realized that they either need more generic representational images or to eliminate them completely but i would still like to know if there was a way to have the thumbnail in the portfolio page be associated with a category and not necessarily the page – but that doesnt sound like its possible or even practical to try…
So one page is in 4 categories and therefor shows up on 4 portfolio pages… It would need 4 different featured images, and the code on the portfolio page for CAT1 would need to know that Feat image 1 is for CAT1 and display that image for the page that is thumbnailed.
Yea – better they just do sumpthin different with the images that go though all this rigamarole…
That was the bit I was missing in my travels. Thanks! Before posting here looking for help I had found code about how to add it to posts so for a while I had it doubled on post pages – but that is what I needed. Thanks a lot Wes! The epik theme is a nice piece of work – working on two more pages using it (A sushi restaurant and a pet supply store) – the clients like it a lot…
Yea that is where i figured but mine is not showing up… AH WAIT – its on POSTS only? Not pages? Dang… http://www2.rspusa.com/2016/06/bead-metal-protection-kit/
And I am not sure of the version number AND WAIT 1.4.1
Actually I have never used it before so I don’t know exactly where or how it should show up – at the bottom of a PAGE right? Between the content and the footer right?
Scott – that is an option we considered but between the two main product lines it turns out to br a total of 72 pages needed vs 28 pages if we are able to sort them by wordpress category and code…
Thanks Wes – gonna give it shot for a local pet store who needs an update to his site…
Keep up the great work!
