        Hi Wes,

        How and where can I setup right side of the page in subpages like in “Blog” for right side called “RECENTLY REVIEWED BEASTS” in http://10beasts.com/best-gaming-mouse/

          I have titles when I create posts, but when they are pusblished they are not shown. An example: http://www.ilovecoffeesomuch.com/category/blog/

          What should I change?

            Hi,

            In the demo youve used a widget with Featured Custom Post Types
            to show a team listing.
            Ive copied the for my page https://tandarts-haarlem.nl which looks perfectly fine on a broad viewport
            (desktop / ipad) but on mobile i find all the team members being displayed underneath each other
            not working well for the user experience.
            Im considdering moving the team listing to a different page and moving it off the main page.

            But id like to keep using the structure that ive created to get the custom post type widget to work;
            each individual team member currently has its own blog post in category “team members”
            I was thinking to use the port folio for this but then realised that the port folio page is not a template.. and im allready using it to display some of my work..

            So, basically im stuck right now.
            im guessing that what i want is not possible (using a second port folio page to display posts from category “team members”), since its not accounted for in the genesis core?
            Or is it? Any tips?

            Best regards,
            Bart Alders

              Hi,
              I installed Aspire Pro for my blog (igorpureta.com) and I’ve found out that mobile is acting differently than desktop.
              1. Where starting navigation bar on homepage is transparent and gets coloured (I’ve changed original black to blueish) through scrolling on mobile device (no matter Android, iPhone or WM) navigation bar remains black (instaed of transparent) and gets blueish through scrolling.
              2. Navigation bar on mobile covers upper part of screen and first row of title of the article/page

                I’m having an issue with padding on my pages. I can’t seem to make page content full width. Instead the content sits with a border that runs around it similar to a blog post.

                Additionally I’d like to use my logo in the header however I’m unable to have the logo sit in the same line as the navigation menu. Instead the line drops below the logo.

                Any help on either of the two would be greatly appreciated!

                  The “latest from the blog” section that you’re seeing can actually be changed from the Front Page Content settings page. Head over to Customize, then go to Front Page Content Settings, and then select the “Hide Content” option and it should remove the Blog Posts from your homepage.

                    With the latest version of Epik, you do have the option to add the Latest Blog posts under your Homepage Widgets (using the Customizer @eric mentioned above). Here’s what it looks like when you select that option – http://i.imgur.com/AeZ261y.png

                      Hi there,

                      I just installed this beautiful theme for an actor’s site last week. Whenever I publish a post, its title shows up in large font across the homepage. Any ideas on that? Thanks in advance for your help.

                        OK, I’ve managed to replicate the theme demo with Front Page Widget 13 settings but it’s still showing a duplicate, “latest from the blog” with the same two posts below it as you can see in the image below.

                        If I change the Reading Settings from “Front page displays: Latest posts” to Static page and select the Home page, I’m left with the word HOME in that section. Obviously, it’s not that way in the demo.

                        What am I doing wrong here?

                          If you’re using the latest version of the theme then the option to have the blog posts show up at the end is already available as an option.

                          The code to make it happen is much more complex than the grid loop code you added above, but the new version gives you the option to turn it on or off by checking a box. You can find that option in the Customize > Front Page Content Settings page.

                          Also, they’re using front-page.php now for the home page files.

                              It is strange to me, that I did everything like you wrote, but I can not make to see this new category called “Blog”.

                              How comes?

                                  On my site at http://www.ilovecoffeesomuch.com/ I have categories like “Drip coffee makers” and so on.

                                  I added also new category “Blog”, but it is not seen, despite I have already one article assigned to this category.

                                    Ah, I forgot that you’re using the Elevate theme and that option isn’t in there just yet since it was originally designed to show the Blog on the homepage by default. I’ll be adding a feature inside this theme that will allow you to easily turn it on and off with one click coming soon (early next week).

                                    The Layout settings of Pages and Posts can be found near the bottom of the Page/Post editor. This feature is available in nearly all Genesis Themes since it’s based on the Framework and not the Child theme, unless a Child theme has certain Layouts added or removed. It should look like the images found on this page – http://bit.ly/2phBaQQ Are those Layout options showing up on your end?

                                      I have added all with no problem, but the last one “blog” is not seen on the first page.

                                      How to solve this?

                                        To remove the Blog posts, go to Appearance > Content > then click on Front Page Content Settings. You’ll see the option to hide the Blog/Content.

                                            Hi Wes,

                                            Tad of Sweet Design here. We are working on a website based on Optimal 1.5. I have set up her blog page as a Portfolio page. Here is the link:

                                            http://walnutcreekpsychologists.com/blog/

                                            Customer wanted her blog page to use the Portfolio display template. I did some customizations on both page_portfolio.php and functions.php, and in the style sheet as well (based on searching in this forum), to get the page to display 4 posts across. My problem is that the portfolio page is not pulling the 300×200 pixels size images I believe it should. I am not quite clear on how page_portfolio.php knows what size image it is supposed to grab?

                                            I use a plugin called Simple Image Sizes to display all the theme’s standard image sizes and allows me to add my own custom sizes.

                                            Rather than tell you the various things I’ve tried, I’ll just say that I’ve tried various things on both functions.php, and page_portfolio.php to create a 300×200 size image named “portfolio-thumbnail”; and regenerated thumbnails both from within Simple Image Sizes, and using another Regenerate Thumbnails plugin I have installed.

                                            I need your help to solve this problem. I am medium-tech-savvy, enough to get myself into trouble. Maybe you can help guide me to get 300×200 images to display on this portfolio style page. I am happy to send login info if that would help!

                                            I’ve benefitted much from the great help on this forum and appreciate the expertise that is generously shared.

                                            Thanks,

                                              I want to have categories like http://10beasts.com/ (look at BLOG, COMPUTERS & TECHNOLOGY,
                                              HEALTH & BEAUTY, SPORTS & OUTDOORS), not like I have at my site at http://www.ilovecoffeesomuch.com/ (look at TOP SINGLE SERVE COFFEE MAKERS 2017, …).

                                              The problem is that they are hardly seen, and that I can not change fonts and size of letters.

                                              Where to put categories, if I want to see them like in 10beasts.com ?

                                              I used Widget Importer you recommended for getting widgets. However, some widgets weren’t imported because of “Site does not support” issue – http://take.ms/tzakE The main pain – absence of an email form (I really love it) and “Recent Blogposts”.

                                              How can I still get these “unsupported” widgets in any other way? Thanks.

                                                      I am using Apsire Pro and wanted my blog to look like it does in the demo, with a nice large image at the top above the excerpt.

                                                      I found the settings in Customize > Content Archives

                                                      I selected: Display entry exceprts

                                                      I checked Display the featured image

                                                      I set featured image size to 1200 x 600

                                                      It works perfectly on my blog, but the problem is that on my PAGES, any image that is used in the body content of the page is now duplicated at the TOP of the page, ABOVE the title.

                                                      Do you know how I can remove this duplication?

                                                      Thank you very much for your help, Erin

                                                        I didn’t create a wie file for the Elevate theme since there’s only 2 widgets being used on the Demo – https://appfinite.com/theme-setup/elevate-theme-setup/#hpb

                                                        The first one is a Text widget using this text/code added in –

                                                        <p>It's difficult not to succeed once you use our strategies. Let's work together.</p>

                                                        <div style="text-align: center;">[video_lightbox_youtube video_id="G7z74BvLWUg" width="1280" height="960" anchor="http://demo.appfinite.net/elevate/wp-content/themes/elevate/images/play.png"]</div>

                                                        The shortcode that you see in the 1st widget links to a plugin for the Video called WP Video Lightbox

                                                        The second widget is using the Genesis eNews Plugin. You can download/install this and configure the widget however you need it to look.

                                                        The rest of the content on the demo are your Blog Posts and sidebar, which should show up automatically.

                                                          Thanks for the prompt response Wes. I’m still not able to get it work as I don’t have a Portfolio area in the Genesis Theme Settings. What am I missing here. See my screen shots at this link:

                                                          Is there a plugin that’s missing to have the portfolio show up in the Genesis Theme Settings or are you referring to the Blog. I have the Blog page assigned in the reading settings of WordPress. Would that be causing the problem? When I took it off however it made the layout look horrible. See the second page of the PDF link.

                                                            I can’t find where you change the amount of posts that show up on the portfolio page. On the Reading Settings I’ve set Blog pages show at most 50 posts but I only see 8 posts per page. The Reading Settings have the “Design Notes” page as the Posts page. Can you help me figure this out? Here’s a link to my page:

                                                            There is nothing in your theme setup that shows info about the Portfolio page 🙁

                                                              I’m still waiting for help on my challenge. It’s been 24 hours. My client is waiting for this site to be finished and I can’t get this feature to work. Can I please get some help? I appreciate AndyKev jumping in, but he didn’t give me anything that solves my challenge.

                                                              Let me crystal clear about what’s happening.

                                                              I’ve installed the theme and have many things working, including having a blog post in the category I want pulled into the portfolio. I have created the portfolio page and on the page, I’ve identified the category ID in the custom field with the “query_args” command. The portfolio page is ready, but when I go to the template drop-down, there is no option for Portfolio, only for default, blog and archive. I’d include a screen grab but there isn’t a way to show this.

                                                              What makes the portfolio page show up as a template option on the pages? Because it doesn’t show up in ANY PAGE ON MY SITE.

                                                              I am wondering if there is something wrong with the installation, if there is a section of PHP missing somewhere.

                                                              The portfolio is a really beautiful feature of this theme. I really love this theme and I want to use it. But my client has a deadline and I need to solve this sooner rather than later.

                                                                To upload a logo, go to Appearance > Customize > Header Image and you can upload a logo from there.

                                                                It’s recommended to upload the exact size that is specified in the functions file so you don’t have to crop your image in WordPress. To change your image, look in your functions.php file and change the size to match the size of your image –

                                                                //* Add support for custom header
                                                                add_theme_support( 'custom-header', array(
                                                                	'flex-height'     => true,
                                                                	'width'           => 300,
                                                                	'height'          => 60,
                                                                	'header-selector' => '.site-title a',
                                                                	'header-text'     => false,
                                                                ) );

                                                                You need to have the Simple Social Icons plugin installed first before you import the Homepage Widgets. If you already imported the other widgets and content, then instead of doing it again, just download the plugin, install it, and then add the plugin to your widget manually. There’s no code needed.

                                                                “3. after the Front Page Widget 13 he displays all the blogposts again! I also dont know why..

                                                                    Hi Wes or other cool helper:

                                                                    I’m working on the following website using Legacy 1.4. Here’s a page for example:

                                                                    http://new.susanmbrooks.com/example-blog-post-one/

                                                                    I have a Genesis Featured Post Widget in the sidebar, and would like to reduce the margin on the sidebar image, but after 3 hours of fiddling, I cannot figure out how to target the margin on an image in the sidebar specifically. (I have done some modifications on the style sheet, but pasting back in the original style.css did not add any helpful clues.)

                                                                    Using Chrome Developer tools, I’ve tried both of the following CSS code chunks, and it works if the !important is added; but in that case it ALSO affects the margin on images in the main content area, which I don’t want. I can’t seem to target JUST the image in the featured post display in the sidebar with custom margin values.

                                                                    .sidebar a.alignright, img.alignright, .wp-caption.alignright {
                                                                    margin: 6px 0 10px 18px !important;
                                                                    padding: 0px;
                                                                    }

                                                                    .sidebar .featured-content img.alignleft {
                                                                    margin: -6px -18px -10px 0 !important;
                                                                    }

                                                                    Any help or clues would be appreciated!

                                                                      1. How can I upload my Logo where the page titel is right now?

                                                                      2. I imported all widgets via the Plugin. Everything was fine, but the Social Media Icons/Widget in Footer 3 are missing. Dunno why. Dou you have the code for me? or an instruction?

                                                                      3. after the Front Page Widget 13 he displays all the blogposts again! I also dont know why..

                                                                      4. How can i configure the looking of my blog? and how to add Pages to the menü? Or how to put a link under a button? Im really a freaking html and css noob.

                                                                      Bit confused about all that.

                                                                      Cheers

                                                                        		}

                                                                        The background images are still set at a fixed position, so you’ll probably have to edit that part of the CSS too depending on how you want your images to look.

                                                                          I dont have a sub nav menu so I am wondering if this is code from the previous child theme?

                                                                          See if you can help me.

                                                                          Moderator

                                                                            Ok, now I see. You may have to remove part of the code for that section in the homepage. There is code added which is designed to make the widget/background image flexible and adjust for different browser sizes on the homepage. What you’ll probably want to do is remove that code and manually add in a fixed padding.

                                                                            Look in your front-page.php file and remove or Comment Out this line –

                                                                            wp_enqueue_script( 'aspire-script', get_bloginfo( 'stylesheet_directory' ) . '/js/home.js', array( 'jquery' ), '1.0.0' );

                                                                            If you want to leave the code in, and just “Comment it Out”, then do this –

                                                                            /*wp_enqueue_script( 'aspire-script', get_bloginfo( 'stylesheet_directory' ) . '/js/home.js', array( 'jquery' ), '1.0.0' );*/

                                                                            Then you can manually add in the padding for that section by adding something like this –

                                                                            .front-page-1 .flexible-widgets {
                                                                                padding: 25% 0 200px;
                                                                            }

                                                                            It may not show up perfect at first, but you can adjust the padding from a percentage to a fixed size (px) to get it to look exactly how you want it. This is what I did in another theme to get it working.

                                                                            #20657

                                                                              It should now be deactivated on single posts, and will only show up on your main Blog page from now on.

                                                                                Hello Wes,
                                                                                I was able to successfully add the fp-left and fp-right features of Guru into the Ambition theme – fantastic!

                                                                                URL: http://horizonsatgfa.org/dev/

                                                                                A couple of questions:
                                                                                The .fp-right has 9px of space that appears beneath the image, which isn’t padding and isn’t margin. I cannot figure out what’s causing that space. The space does not appear on the .fp-left2, and I can’t figure out what the difference is.

                                                                                I’d like to restrict the blog loop on the home page to a particular post category ID. I’ve look at the /lib/theme-defaults.php but don’t see an option for this. Is there a line I could add to achieve this?

                                                                                Thank you,

                                                                                  It was probably your Browser Cache. Anytime you make CSS adjustments you’ll need to clear your Cache if you want the changes to show up Instantly on your end. A quick way to do it is to simply hit your Reload Button on your Browser. That’s how I always do it.

                                                                                  “How do you get rid of the extra white space between the article summaries in content archives like the Blog”

                                                                                  Looks like you already figured this one out too. Most of the space is coming from the Entries section (around line 1780) –

                                                                                  .entry {
                                                                                  	margin-bottom: 40px;
                                                                                  	padding: 0;
                                                                                  }

                                                                                  It’s originally 100px, but you set it to 40px. Remember to hit your Reload Button if you want to see the CSS changes show up instantly on your browser. I can already see the changes you’ve made on your site.

                                                                                  “I’ve noticed a gap between the end of the article and author’s box – anyway to make it narrower?”

                                                                                  The code you edited above handles that as well. The entry code is the same for Blog Posts, and Single Posts. You can separate them to be different if you want, but for now it’s showing up as you have it edited.

                                                                                  Let me know if this helps.

                                                                                            http://horizonsatgfa.org/dev/

                                                                                            I would just flip them over to the Guru Theme, except that they also want the blog loop and sidebar on the home page, and Guru doesn’t offer that feature.

                                                                                            So what to do? Do you think I can incorporate those two widgets and formatting of Guru into Ambition?

                                                                                            Thank you,

                                                                                              The documentation is located in the tutorial/resources page – https://appfinite.com/tutorials-and-resources/ More will be added in the near future once we redesign the theme (new version coming in a month or so). Here is the basic Setup for now – https://appfinite.com/theme-setup/ally-theme-setup/ which should cover recreating the entire demo (Homepage Widgets, Posts, Pages, etc)

                                                                                              Which icons are you referring to? The ones I used on the demo were either custom created in Photoshop or from a Graphics Blog/Site. Unfortunately this was years ago when I created this theme so I can’t remember where they came from exactly. However, you can find plenty of Icons that you can customize from here – http://fontawesome.io/icons/ or you can search for Graphic Icon PSD’s if you want some custom icons.

                                                                                                Hi! I’m trying to optimize my web (www.misterlogo.es) to get the best results on Pagespeed. My PHP skills are 0, so I need a little help for that.

                                                                                                One thing I have to do y to load the Javascript in the footer. And there are some lines I have to change:

                                                                                                //* Enqueue Scripts/Styles
                                                                                                add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'squareone_enqueue_scripts_styles' );
                                                                                                function squareone_enqueue_scripts_styles() {

                                                                                                	wp_enqueue_script( 'squareone-responsive-menu', get_bloginfo( 'stylesheet_directory' ) . '/js/responsive-menu.js', array( 'jquery' ), '1.0.0' );
                                                                                                	wp_enqueue_style( 'dashicons' );
                                                                                                	wp_enqueue_style( 'google-font', '//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Source+Sans+Pro:200,300,400,500,600', array(), PARENT_THEME_VERSION );
                                                                                                	wp_enqueue_style( 'prefix-font-awesome', '//netdna.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.0.3/css/font-awesome.css', array(), '4.0.3' );

                                                                                                }

                                                                                                I’ve read to set the last parameter to “TRUE”. Here are some examples:
                                                                                                wp_enqueue_script(‘site-search’, get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . ‘/js/site-search.js’, [‘jquery’], NULL, true);

                                                                                                // Defer jQuery to Footer
                                                                                                add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘defer_jquery’ );
                                                                                                function defer_jquery() {
                                                                                                  if ( !current_user_can( ‘edit_pages’ ) ) {
                                                                                                    wp_deregister_script( ‘jquery’ );
                                                                                                    wp_register_script( ‘jquery’, includes_url( ‘/js/jquery/jquery.js’ ), false, NULL, true );
                                                                                                    wp_enqueue_script( ‘jquery’ );
                                                                                                  }
                                                                                                }

                                                                                                But I don’t know how to apply that to the theme code. Any suggestion?

                                                                                                Thanks!

                                                                                                Moderator

                                                                                                  “1. How can I have a centered and full width images?”

                                                                                                  I copy/pasted this from my earlier reply –

                                                                                                  “This is possible, but it would take some time to create Custom Code in order for that to work. Since it doesn’t come with the theme by default, you would have to search to see if there is already a Tutorial available, or possibly Hire a Dev to code it up. I’m sure I could do it, I’d just need some time to create the code and put it together.”

                                                                                                  To set a certain/fixed size, you can edit the size that is right above the code in the functions file. It should look something like this –

                                                                                                  // Register a custom image size for featured image on single Posts
                                                                                                  add_image_size( 'single-posts', 900, 540, true );<!--formatted-->

                                                                                                  Then you can select that size in your Genesis Theme Settings page in the Content Archives section.

                                                                                                  “How can I disable this feature in all pages and articles?”

                                                                                                  If you want to remove the feature from all pages and blog posts then you would uncheck the option in your Genesis Theme Settings page.

                                                                                                  “Can I insert article and pages title on this image?”

                                                                                                  This option isn’t available by Default, your theme would have to be Customized and the code would need to be created in order to do something like this.

                                                                                                  #20450
