      One last thing, I also used to have a white box around the blog posts as you can see here:

      https://kettlebellsworkouts.com/blog/

      Is it possible to replace that too?

      Thanks again for a great theme.

        Hello,

        I’ve just updated to Epik 1.5 and I have extra space above each blog post title.

        https://www.gbpersonaltraining.com/blog/

        Can you help me remove this please?

        Many thanks, Greg

          Hi,

          I removed the code from functions.php in order to get rid of the extra featured image that appears above a blog post. However, there’s just one page that gives an error in Safari on Mac:

          https://phildonaldson.com/chasing-music-clark-hodge/

          Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in /home3/poodyg1/public_html/wp-content/themes/imagery/functions.php on line 13

          I cleared history and looked on another Mac. Please advise. Thanks.

            Hi Jeff,

            I must concur with Wes that Epik works fine with gutenberg, the problem IMHO is that gutenberg is not ready to be consumed…

            Being a big fan of epik with a number of my sites running it with complicated code and webbadassery I became worried on seeing your post… SO i went to the web site of my FAVORITE client and immediately upgraded everything, plugins and all, to their latest versions (after i made a backup of course).

            It was immediately confusing and distressing like any new development environment is but I noticed that a lot of things I have come to depend on in the editor not only were not there but were inaccessable. Yuk. C’mon wordpress? I mean one of the MAIN reasons for wordpress’s continued success is the ease at which coders and designers can apply fancy schmancy details to an otherwise boring CMS based blog application… If i cant do that, i may as well go back to coding my own php or shtml (remember shtml?)…

            So my solution, since I figured I had mirrored your situation close enough for my comfort was to just disable the thing using a plugin made by the wordpress contributors…

            https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/

            Push that gutenberg stuff out of the way and get back to work. They are gonna support the classic editor till 2022 so I think I will wait till 2020 before I try Gutenberg again. Once the bugs are worked out…

              Hey Wes,

              I recently launched a blog teaching people how to start a blog (something I know very well). I use the Aspire theme, and I love all your themes… and that’s perfect to promote as an affiliate.

              The issue is, when I click “Join Now –>” on the sidebar of this very page, it goes to an affiliate page that gives this message: The affiliate area is available only for registered affiliates.

              I do not know where to go to join your affiliate program. Please advise.

              By the way, I already published a post telling my story how I ended up running Genesis and Aspire (https://scottsmoneymachines.com/how-i-chose-my-wordpress-theme/). I have many opportunities to promote your (awesome) themes and I’d like to be an affiliate.

              Thanks,
              Scott

                Ah ha!

                This is what I’m looking for: Ambition theme next buttons on blog, but for Elevate.

                Would it just be some code for the front-page.php file?

                or… ?

                But ya, exactly what was fixed for Ambition front page blog and all the next pages after it.

                  Thank you again for your great support which has been so helpful. Love to give you a tweet following your support.

                  How do I get rid of one space that follows the blog blurb and the 3 ellipses (…)?

                  Here is what I have in functions which I think is a slight modification of what you have:

                  //* Modify the Genesis content limit read more link
                  add_filter( ‘get_the_content_more_link’, ‘elevate_read_more_link’ );
                  function elevate_read_more_link() {
                  return ‘… <br>Read More‘;
                  }

                  I know it’s a small thing but I want to style Read More into a button and it looks wrong to have that space between the last word in the blurb and …

                  Thanks!

                    Please help me out I am in the serious mess.

                    This is what I used in “Aditional CSS” block:

                    .sidebar-primary {
                        float: left;
                        margin-left: 60px;
                        width: 340px;
                    }

                    .content {

                        float: right;
                        width: 800px;
                    }

                    .anchor-space {

                        margin-top: -80px;
                        padding-top: 80px;
                    }

                    But it is not responsive to mobile devices. Please visit my website and blog post via a mobile device. It’s wide on mobile devices which is why I am losing my website ranking.

                    Can you please help me out to edit the CSS, I want my content area 800px minimum and 340px sidebar (left) there must be 60px margin from left.

                    Please help me out; I don’t see you guys helping out properly.

                            I was able to fix this issue relatively quickly because I know the WordPress hierarchy but it was still annoying to need to go in and fix the theme. The front page widgets are all written on to home.php which means that when I have a blank page as my first page, none of the widgets work. Went to the blog page to check a hunch and there were all the widgets. The home.php needs to be renamed to front-page.php or others will run into this issue and they may not have been around wordpress enough to know how to fix it.

                              Got it working. Don’t know WHAT was wrong. Setting up the “Blog” page showed content, but the Portfolio said “No content to show”. Then I swapped the template selection, cleared cache, and finally deleted the pages and menu items, and began again. Then it worked. Something goofy.

                                Something has changed. One of my sites uses Epik 1.4 and the blog, portfolio work fine.
                                My other site andykev.com uses Epik 1.5, and I can’t get the blog to show, nor the portfolio to work. I do get something “archive” which is not showing on the 1.4. I checked the Genesis Theme settings and the PHP files…. can’t figure it out. Shouldn’t posts display on the portfolio page? They used to.

                                    You can turn this feature off by going to Appearance > Customize > Front Page Content Settings and then you’ll see the option to turn it off.

                                    In a future update I’ll have the blog turned off by default.

                                    Let me know if that works.

                                        I had already found and read that article on wpsites.net, along with a few other articles. I was hoping that there was something I could simply change, or switch around, in the functions file.

                                        I don’t want to put the post meta below the blog post. Just the Date and Byline placed below the title of the article.

                                          Hello,

                                          Quick question, what size image should I upload for the featured images on my blog posts?

                                          Here’s my websites blog: https://kettlebellsworkouts.com/blog

                                          The images are set to 300 x 300 in the genesis settings.

                                          I’ve been having a few issues with the images becoming slightly blurred.

                                          Many thanks, Greg

                                            Is Epik fully compatible with Genesis Portfolio Pro? I’ve set up a couple of test portfolio pages according to the plugin’s instructions. However, the content on the individual pages doesn’t go to the full width of the content area. There’s also a sidebar that I can’t get rid of because there’s no Layout Settings on the Portfolio Items pages. Here’s what it looks like (click one of the portfolio items to view):

                                            http://dev.propelgrowth.com/portfolio-type/collateral/

                                            The Category page looks fine, but the Portfolio Items don’t seem to work properly with this theme.

                                            I understand that Epik uses blog posts and blog categories as a Portfolio option. Our site already has blog categories, so I don’t want to mix up categories and deal with workarounds. That’s why I loaded Genesis Portfolio Pro. It employs specific portfolio functionality. The only problem is that I can’t seem to control the look of those items (although the Categories allow for Layout Settings; and yes, I did check Screen Options on the Portfolio Items pages).

                                            I was under the impression that this would work since Epik is compatible with the Genesis Framework. Is there a glitch that I’m not aware of? I’ve got two sites that I want to add portfolios to. They use your Epik and Imagery themes. The portfolio feature is pretty important to me, so I really need it to work. If it turns out that there’s a better plugin that works with these themes, please let me know.

                                            Thanks. 🙂

                                              Hi there, I have 3 problems I’d like to ask about, that hopefully are fairly simple:

                                              1/ So, I want to keep the blog’s sidebar the same width as the default.

                                              BUT how do I make the blog page’s main section wider? I tried to set it to 800px, but the theme became non-responsive on mobile

                                              2/ How do I increase the blank left-hand section of the blog page? I mean… the blank area before the block of text starts. If I did this correctly, then the blank right-hand section — past the sidebar — would shrink by the same amount.

                                              In effect, I’m moving the blog page a little to the right, 10beasts style.

                                              3/ Is it possible to alter the number of pixels between the lines of text? I think it’s called ‘leading’?

                                                In the past, I’ve always just created a png image and used a site to convert it to an ico file. Then I would upload that to my images folder (replacing the default image). I did this through FTP, but that was years ago. They’ve added new ways to do it now.

                                                It looks like you can upload it through WordPress – Appearance > Site Identity > Site Icon

                                                That should work and might be a much easier way to do it.

                                                There’s some other ways to do it too. Here are some tutorials that showed up on Google –

                                                  I need to add Facebook JavaScript SDK to a .php file. Just need direction on which one it should be installed in.

                                                  This blog post says “If you are comfortable editing theme files, then you can add it in your theme or a child theme by simply editing the header.php file and paste it right after the <body> tag.”

                                                  I’m not seeing a header.php file so I’m assuming it’s just named something else in this instance.

                                                  I’m using the Aspire Theme.

                                                    Icon of menù(3 small lines) isn’t align with my logo. This must be on the top-left

                                                    How can i do?

                                                    I will attend
                                                    Thanks a lot

                                                      My apologies sometimes there’s an issue with WordPress/bbPress sending the notification emails when someone replies.

                                                      It looks like a part of the CSS was changed that is affecting the sidebar on the homepage.

                                                      Did you add this code to your style.css on line 2783? –

                                                      .front-page .site-inner {
                                                          padding: 0;
                                                      }

                                                      Adding that code removes the spacing on the left and right of the Blog posts as well as the sidebar on the main page.

                                                      Once you remove that code or change it back to normal then the spacing on the sides will show up again.

                                                      Let me know if that helps. I can create a screenshot of what it will look like once you fix that part if you want.

                                                          In your WP Admin, head over to Appearance > Customize then click the Front Page Content Settings. This is where you can remove the Latest Blog posts from showing on the homepage.

                                                            Hi Wes,

                                                            Thanks for your updated SquareOne theme – things get better and better!

                                                            I’ve updated my site and used the improved slider as per other posts.

                                                            All is almost perfect except that I am having an issue with my featured images not displaying on the blog page unless I check ‘featured image’ in the ‘theme settings’ / ‘content archive’ section. If this is done then I then get the featured image showing above the blog post for instance http://bit.ly/2mTF4Nn

                                                            I would be grateful for some help or ideas.

                                                                Hi,

                                                                As mentioned in the Forum Rules (#5) it’s recommended to create each topic/issue into their own separate Threads due to the “One question per thread policy“. This helps keep everything organized and makes it easier for us to find similar issues through the Search Results when searching the forum.

                                                                Do you have a link to your website? That will help so I can see which lines will need to be adjusted.

                                                                For Question #3, the featured images aren’t supposed to show up on the Single pages, they are designed to only show on the Blog pages. That’s how most StudioPress and other Genesis Child themes are designed when dealing with Featured Images. However, I do believe they already have this feature included within the theme, you just need to “un-comment” it out in the functions file. Look for the code under this – // Add featured image above the entry content and uncomment it.

                                                                        He said that he was not allowed to edit files and that it was not recommended by appfinite.

                                                                        #21986

                                                                        Moderator

                                                                          One more thing, I thought I added this yesterday. If you look around line 1555 you’ll see this code –

                                                                          .front-page-1 {
                                                                              height: 100vh;
                                                                          }

                                                                          Once you remove that then the height should return back to normal.

                                                                          Also, I would remove the Parallax effect since your images aren’t large enough for the content you have. If you have a background image that moves with the Parallax style, then that means the image needs to be large enough to cover the height of the text/content. If you have too much text/content and the background image isn’t large enough, then the image will stop at a certain point while the content keeps going. If you remove the Parallax effect, then this will allow the background image to resize and cover the entire area of the content without looking “cut off”.

                                                                          The parallax effect can be disabled on the front-page.php file. Looks like this –

                                                                          		//* Enqueue parallax script
                                                                          		add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'aspire_enqueue_parallax_script' );

                                                                          			}

                                                                          		}

                                                                          ********************************************************************************

                                                                          For front-page-6 add .solid-section right after like this –

                                                                          .front-page-6 .solid-section {
                                                                              background-image: url(http://toedeloe.codebase.space/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/geschenken.jpg);
                                                                          }

                                                                          The .solid-section class is a div that displays a white background that shows up on line 1508 for every widget area you see with a white background. If you add a background image to front-page-6 then the solid section div shows up on top of it. So we would need to override that with the code above.

                                                                          Let me know if you need help making any of these adjustments.

                                                                          Moderator

                                                                            This is showing up like this because you have a lot of text inside some of the widget areas. Most sites that use Parallax backgrounds don’t have too much text, maybe a little to explain what’s going on, but not so much where it would extend beyond the length of the image. If you look at the demo you can see the difference…..But no worries, if you do plan to have that much text, we can still make adjustments to get it working.

                                                                            Here’s a couple ways to work around it –

                                                                            1. Easiest way is to remove the Parallax effect from your front-page.php file (I can help you remove this if you don’t want to touch the PHP code) –

                                                                            		//* Enqueue parallax script
                                                                            		add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'aspire_enqueue_parallax_script' );
                                                                            		function aspire_enqueue_parallax_script() {

                                                                            			if ( ! wp_is_mobile() ) {

                                                                            				wp_enqueue_script( 'parallax-script', get_bloginfo( 'stylesheet_directory' ) . '/js/parallax.js', array( 'jquery' ), '1.0.0' );

                                                                            			}

                                                                            		}

                                                                            Removing that effect should fix that instantly. Parallax works great and looks cool, but not everyone needs it or should use it depending on the type of site and widgets they’ll be using. Especially if you have odd shaped background images and a lot of text on top of them (I’ll explain this below).

                                                                            2. One of the other things you can do if you do want to keep the Parallax effect is to simply add a 2nd image (taller) designed specifically for Mobile devices.

                                                                            On desktop and laptop browsers, the background images will show up in full and the text will most likely show up fine on top of the images/widget sections. On smaller browsers, most developers and other professional sites usually have a 2nd image that is designed for mobile browsers to activate when the site is being viewed from a smaller device. This would usually be a taller/more vertical image that is used. So if you have a lot of text, the background image will be long enough to cover it without the text extending beyond the image exposing the body/background.

                                                                            ***************************************************************

                                                                            This happens on pretty much any site that uses background images with Parallax. If you do a Google search you’ll see similar issues from other Developers, Theme designers and anyone that uses Parallax in general (not just Genesis Themes). What is happening is the Background images are presented to show up the best way they can without being too stretched or shrunk too small. So if you have a widget area with a lot of text/content and a background image behind it that is more wide than it is vertical, you’ll see this type of behavior when you shrink your browser.

                                                                            The Background image height can only extend so far without losing quality or shrinking the width too much. So when you have a lot of text, the background image will stop at some point, and the text will still show on top of whatever image or color is in the background (most likely body background).

                                                                            Like I said, if you plan to have a lot of text, then I would recommend turning off Parallax, as Parallax isn’t designed for a lot of content on top…..unless you have some large Background Images that you can use. If you have large enough images, then you could get it to work.

                                                                            Let me know if that helps.

                                                                              I am trying to add Video background plugin shortcode to the slider, slider wide or welcome wide for the home page. I can get it to appear in the header and in background body of blog content, but that’s not where I want it.

                                                                              I want it to appear in one of the top wide widgets with text/call to action overlay.

Usually when you upload a new favicon it may take a while for your Browser to display it since it’s using a cached version of your site. You can try clearing your cache or resetting your browser….or even loading your site on a different browser to check and make sure it’s working. I can check for you if you have a link.

                                                                                I’m not sure what’s going on with the 404 page you’re seeing, as the 2nd page shows up normally for me on the demo – http://demo.appfinite.net/aspire/templates/blog/page/2/ It’s possible it could be a plugin issue but I’m honestly not sure.

                                                                                  I have installed the Aspire Theme, but I meet with two problems about my website. One is about the Favicon, which is only showed in WordPress admin but not the actual site, how to fix this? I have uploaded the favicon file via FileZilla.
                                                                                  The other is that the page shows a 404 error when I click blog page 2. There are some plugins used for this problem, and I have tried, but the third party plugin causes other problems and not showing content correctly. Is there any solution for this problem?

                                                                                        Front Page 7 is the Blueish “What we do” section right under that.

                                                                                        Front Page 8 is the column on the left labeled – “Enhance your Results with a Better Design.”

                                                                                        Front Page 10 and 11 are the 2 full width sections right under that.

                                                                                        The Widget file from the Doc page is supposed to upload all of these sections automatically.

                                                                                          How do I remove this, or not have the video play automatically and why is it happening on single blog post pages as well. How do I stop this?

If so, I think that has something to do with the superfish/javascript that is used in the Genesis Framework. It shows up that way by default. Example – https://demo.studiopress.com/genesis-sample/

                                                                                            Try adding this code in your functions file –

                                                                                            add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'sp_disable_superfish' );
                                                                                            function sp_disable_superfish() {
                                                                                                wp_deregister_script( 'superfish' );
                                                                                                wp_deregister_script( 'superfish-args' );
                                                                                            }

                                                                                            To remove the Parallax effects, take a look in your front-page.php file and Comment Out or Remove this code –

If you look at my “Recent Blog Post” grid on the Home page, they are center. The images underneath are shifted to the left. Is there any way to fix this?

Here is an example of Vintage running on the latest version of WordPress and Genesis – http://demo.appfinite.net/vintage/templates/blog/

                                                                                                I would check to see if you have any outdated Plugins, or Custom code that was added that may be causing the conflict.

                                                                                                Also check to make sure the Genesis and WordPress updates are installed properly. Try and let them both reinstall if possible.

                                                                                                #21540

                                                                                                  I don’t see the .footer-widget-4 CSS anywhere. Did you add it in somewhere?

                                                                                                  In the CSS you’ll need to make footer-widgets-1, 2, 3 all float to the left and share the same size, while footer-widget-4 is supposed to float to the right.

                                                                                                  Footer 4 should also be added with the same width as footer 1, 2, and 3, but no margin-right would be needed since it’s floating to the right/end of the content area.

                                                                                                  Let me know if that makes sense.

                                                                                                  “Also, something strange is now happening. Under the footer widget titled “Travel Tips,” there is a space between the links “Travel Blog” & “Travel Insurance.” It wasn’t there before and i don’t see what could be causing that to happen.”

It’s just a floating issue since you added the 4th widget but don’t have the CSS added in to guide it in position. That’s why they are all showing up weird.

Under the footer widget titled “Travel Tips,” there is a space between the links “Travel Blog” & “Travel Insurance.” It wasn’t there before and i don’t see what could be causing that to happen. Please assist. Thanks!
