      Ah! I just realized my post didn’t show up for some reason. All you would have needed to do was extract the zip on your desktop and then you’ll see the plugin zip inside.

      Well, since you already purchased at least you’ll have access to their Support, Docs, etc……So that’s still a good thing 🙂

        Do you have a link to your site as an example so I can take a look at what’s going on?

        The slider images shouldn’t affect the Featured Widget Thumbnails.

          Do you have a link to your site?

          Most people add extra content to the header by using the “Header Right” widget location from your widgets page.

            Are you using a plugin to do this? If so, you’d need to contact the plugin developer to figure out how to do it as this goes beyond the Epik theme itself. Genesis themes won’t prevent plugin functionality like that from functioning properly. You would need to make sure the plugin or whatever you’re using offers that as feature/option.

              The default for the Optimal theme is 1140px, since that is the width of the theme itself. The Slider plugin you’re using has a default of 920px, but you’ll need to change this to 1140px.

              Download a plugin called Regenerate Thumbnails and run that plugin anytime you change the size of your images/slider. it will automatically adjust the size of your images to the size you have specified in your settings.

                I’m not exactly sure how to do it with PHP/filters, but if you have a link I can look at your blog and see if its possible to have the date removed visually using CSS.

                  The latest version of the theme fixed this a while ago. Are you using an older/outdated version of the theme? Do you know what version you’re using?

                  There are a few other posts here in the forum that cover how to fix this just in case you are using an older version of the theme.

                  Remember, don’t completely upgrade/replace if you’ve made adjustments to your Theme files. If you haven’t made adjustments to your page_portfolio.php file, then you could download and replace the new version with your current version……make sure and back up everything first just in case you make an error.

                  Let me know the status and Theme Version so I can assist if needed.

                    That’s not going to be an easy solution with the Genesis Framework. It’s a little difficult when trying to do something like that with Genesis, as there will be a lot of code that needs to be created in order for something like that to happen with your site.

                    The Portfolio file is a template, so if you’re able to create or select a template you can choose that one, or you can copy and paste this template and rename it if you wanted to as well.

                      Ahhh I spoke too soon, I just looked at the code of that demo/link and realized we were talking about two different things. I thought you meant is it possible to center your nav by itself, I didn’t see the part mentioned about a Logo in between.

                      But now that I see you wanted it to look like the theme demo with the logo in the middle. It is possible, but it will take some CSS skills to customize it to work that way. They are using a Primary Nav on the left, and Secondary Nav on the right, which means you’ll have to make a lot of edits to your css to make this happen….regardless of which theme you use.

                      Your site looks great as it is already! Just my two cents 🙂

                      If you want to try the logo in the center, the you’ll need to study the Source Code and CSS of that theme to see how they did it. Either that, or you can hire someone to do it for you. It shouldn’t take too long.

                        Unfortunately it’s kind of difficult to figure out how to get it to pass a test on those type of sites unless they have a guide that lets you know exactly what it takes to pass. It’s sort of like Mobile Browsers. Most mobile browsers don’t have that much documentation/guidelines on what it takes to build a site that works perfectly in their particular browser and phone/device.

                        Every device that I’ve used and tested the theme on has always worked with no issues. My point was, if a tester/site says a site is broken, but there are no signs of a broken site (by scanning the code, and viewing on nearly every type of mobile device) then I know not to put 100% trust into a site like that, regardless who it is. Like I said, if they had a guide that shows exactly what it takes to validate a site, or what the standards are, then that would help developers get going in the right direction. There just aren’t that many out there. Most Mobile Device standards are usually found by accident, or in a developer forum somewhere…….It’s not really laid out and simple to read.

                        I checked the theme that you’re using and the theme itself seemed to pass with no issues – https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/?url=http://demo.appfinite.net/epik …….The fact that you’re using that same theme, and your site isn’t passing lets me know that either you added an error/typo somewhere in your code, or the plugins that you’ve added aren’t working properly and may be causing some errors…..or the test itself is not 100% accurate. Who knows? lol

                        Anyways, if you don’t figure it out, I wouldn’t worry, your site/design looks good on every device I’ve checked. Keep up the good work 🙂

                          You can change the links that show up in your content areas (blog, posts, pages, etc) by adding this to your css –

                          .epik-darkblue .entry-content a {
                           	color: #ff0000;
                          }

                          If you want to change ALL links globally throughout your entire site, then you can adjust line 2318 in your style.css –

                          .entry-content a {
                           	color: #ff0000;
                          }

                          I used the red color as an example so it will stand out when you look at it to see that it works. You can change this to whatever color you need.

                            Yes you can use all of these images. He mentioned previously that he took these pictures himself, except for the 2nd picture with the laptop. You can still use that picture as well if you want, it comes from a site that offers free images that you can do whatever you want with.

                              Google may say it’s not mobile friendly, but it’s working perfectly fine on my mobile devices. There could be an error on Google’s part.

                              It’s funny, I just saw another person the other day mentioning that this theme passed their Mobile tests.

                              Honestly I wouldn’t be concerned about it, as this theme works fine on nearly all mobile devices when you actually look at it from a phone or tablet itself.

                                Assuming you’re referring to this forum…….that can happen sometimes. They (Appfinite) are using a plugin called BBPress to run their forum, so if there are any issues, it’s coming from bbPress rather than Appfinite’s site. bbPress is always making updates, so if this is a real issue, they’ll most likely get it fixed in the next update. I’d let bbPress know if you have had this happen to you…….Personally, it hasn’t happened to me yet, or at least that I know of. I always get an email notification anytime someone replies to me. Especially when I check the “Notify” box.

                                  This should be possible to do.

                                    One of the files is the theme that you can upload through the theme uploader.

                                    The other file (Layer Slider) is supposed to be uploaded through the Plugins page. They are separate files, so head over to your plugins page and upload the Layer Slider separately.

                                    You’ll need to unzip these files from your computer since they are two separate files.

                                      It sounds like you may have added something. I’ve had that happen to me using another theme, but it was because I made a mistake when adding in some custom code. So what all have you done to the theme?

                                      Have you made any customizations to this theme anywhere in any of the files?

                                      Have you added any plugins recently that may have caused this to happen?

                                      By default the theme works fine, but if you add some code with an error in it, or if you add certain types of plugins it could cause conflicts with the Genesis Framework and WordPress itself depending on what it is and how it’s made.

                                        If not, just add a link that will directly override your default logo. You can add the smaller logo in the responsive section on line 3344 –

                                        .header-image .site-header,
                                        .header-image .site-header .wrap {

                                        }

                                        Add/Replace whatever link you want in the link area I posted above.

                                            Ok for some reason my response didn’t show up, and I think it’s because I didn’t hit the Submit button, or the browser that I’m using (Opera) had an error. I typed a reply a few days ago, and when I clicked this forum link to see how everything was going, everything that I typed was still inside the Message/Reply box waiting to be submitted. Thank goodness my browser saved that info!

                                            Anyways, here’s what I typed –

                                            I just checked that out and I can see your Menu disappears in responsive mode. The theme/demo itself is working fine (check out the demo). The only way it wouldn’t is if you added or removed something from the theme on your own site. Did you make any adjustments to the responsive Nav CSS code/section? By default it’s supposed to work. If you look at the demo, you can see how everything is setup – http://demo.appfinite.net/epik

                                            Do you remember what all you added to your CSS that may have altered how this section of the theme works?

                                                  It looks like you added code to your css which interupted the way the responsive code works in the theme by default. The code that is affecting everything is the width that you added around line 3897 –

                                                  .epik-purple .home-feature-bg-dark .featuredpage .page, .home-feature-bg-dark .featuredpost .post {

                                                  }

                                                  When you add that width, it causes that section to be 1140px (even on mobile devices). But I don’t think you would need to add that since the theme’s width is already set to 1140px and is designed to be responsive when a mobile device is being used.

                                                    It depends, have you customized your current version and any of it’s files? If you haven’t then you can install the latest version with no issue.

                                                    If you have made customizations, then you will have to try a different approach since an updated version installed on your site will overwrite the theme that is currently present. This means you would have to manually add/save in your customizations.

                                                      You can remove that width as it’s not needed since there is already code that handles that section in your css.

                                                      The other sections are responsive because the responsive code/width kicks in at line 4095 –

                                                      	.site-header,
                                                      	.nav-primary .wrap,
                                                      	.nav-secondary .wrap,
                                                      	.slider .wrap,
                                                      	.welcome .wrap,
                                                      	.home-feature-bg .wrap,
                                                      	.home-feature-bg-alt .wrap,
                                                      	.home-feature-bg-dark .wrap,
                                                      	.footer-widgets .wrap {
                                                      		width: 90%;
                                                      	}

                                                      This part – .home-feature-bg-alt .wrap, is what handles that particular section, and I’m guessing since you had it last (after the code above) your css gives it priority and uses the width you added rather than what’s already available in your responsive css. So just delete that width that you added on line 4476 – width: 1140px; and it should work fine.

                                                        Add this to your css

                                                        .site-header .site-title a{
                                                        	background-position: center !important;
                                                        }

                                                        That should do it.

                                                        Also, if you want to add more height to your logo (since it appears to be cutoff), then you can look at line 2057 and adjust the min-height from 164px to around 240px –

                                                        .header-image .site-title a {

                                                          You can do this from the Genesis Theme Settings page. Check it out, I don’t think you’ll need any code to do it.

                                                          Dont forget the WordPress settings that you can add by default. Also, remember you can add a Read More tag to each post directly in your content editor.

                                                            It’s not possible for the homepage or any file inside the theme to suddenly change on its own. So maybe they removed or altered something somewhere on your site, or a setting was changed. Either way, something was definitely changed, just gotta figure out where exactly.

                                                            It’s difficult to guess what happened, so we’d have to go through the basics first. Take a look at Appfinite’s Homepage tutorial to make sure you have it setup properly – https://appfinite.com/tutorials/how-to-setup-the-home-and-blog-page/

                                                              I agree with @eric this is the result of you or someone else adding in the wrong quote. The 2 different quotes would still be there regardless of whatever theme you use since the quote/code is visible inside of your actual Source Code itself. The source code shows 2 different symbols when you take a look at it, and that definitely has nothing to do with the theme. You can view it here – view-source:http://digitalaccesspass.com/doc/dap-shortcodes/

                                                              I copied this from your sites Source Code –

                                                              See how you have 2 different symbols added? In order to change this, you just need to replace them with the correct quote/symbol that you want to use. I’ve seen other people on a totally different WordPress theme run into an issue like this, and it was due to the plugin they were using, and another had this happen to them because of the Visual Editor that they were using to add their content.

                                                              Changing the theme won’t change the symbol that you are adding to your code. You need to go through and replace each symbol with the correct one. The fastest way to do this is to copy your content and add it to a HTML/CSS editor and then use the “Find and Replace” option to replace each quote/symbol with the one that you want to be displayed. If you do it this way, it should only take 2 seconds for everything to be fixed automatically….rather than going through and replacing each one since that would be time consuming.

                                                              Customer

                                                                I can assure you the CSS didn’t change on its own, it can only change if something has been modified. Here is what’s going on –

                                                                The posts and pages in Genesis are located inside of a div/container called article. Anytime the article container (post/page) is displayed it shows a white background, with a small dropshadow and a little bit of padding on certain areas of the content. This happens on every page/post EXCEPT for the Homepage. The reason they didn’t add this for posts/pages on the homepage is because most users wanted to add Genesis Featured Posts and Pages inside of the Widget areas, and doing so wouldn’t look right since it would have a white background/box inside of a widget area that already has a gray, black, or white background. So having something with a gray background, and then having a post show up inside of that widget with a different background color wouldn’t look right in most cases. If you look at every other page on your site you’ll see the white background behind your content, so you probably didn’t notice that it doesn’t show up like that on the homepage.

                                                                Since you’re not using the homepage widgets like other users, you would need to remove the CSS that prevents the white background/spacing from showing specifically on the homepage. To do so, look in your css around line 2305 and you’ll see the code I’m talking about –

                                                                .home .entry {
                                                                	box-shadow: none;
                                                                	-moz-box-shadow: none;
                                                                	-webkit-box-shadow: none;
                                                                	background: none;
                                                                }

                                                                You can either remove or comment out that entire code above.

                                                                Next for the spacing. If you scroll a few lines under that code you’ll see this –

                                                                .home .entry-content {
                                                                	padding: 0 0 20px;
                                                                }

                                                                You can remove or comment that out as well. Once you do that, then your Homepage content will show up the same way as all the other pages.

                                                                I see no issue with your sidebar it looks the exact same width as the Epik demo – http://demo.appfinite.net/epik/sample/

Remember you can also add a slider or any type of widget you want inside any of those areas (you’re not limited to just text and html).

                                                                  If there is a specific part of the homepage that you’re trying to replicate just let me know and I’ll copy/paste the exact text/code they used to create it.

                                                                  If you’re new to Genesis, most Genesis Child themes will show the blog on the homepage by default, and if you add a widget or some content into one of the Home widget areas, then the Homepage template (as seen in the demo) will automatically be activated and the blog will be removed from the homepage…..you can still access the blog by creating a separate Blog page as mentioned in the Tutorial link – https://appfinite.com/tutorials/how-to-setup-the-home-and-blog-page/

If so you could just copy the portfolio file in your Child theme, and rename the file to something different. Then open the file and change the template name (should be near the top of the file). After that you should be able to remove the code that deals with “Read More” links.

                                                                        .header-image .site-header .widget-area {

At the moment you have it as 1.9px and it should be something different. I would change it to around 25px and start with that and adjust if you need. Here is an example –

                                                                        .header-image .site-header .widget-area {

                                                                        }
                                                                        in reply to: Epik 1.4 or Epik 1.4.1 #14976

So if you’ve made adjustments to your site and you like it, then you can leave it as it is and be fine. It wasn’t a security update or anything serious like that.

                                                                          Although, if you haven’t made any CSS changes, then you could update it/replace it if you wanted to.

                                                                          So FYI – Upgrading or replacing it will definitely override whatever you have setup currently.

                                                                                /* Site Header Navigation

                                                                                .site-header .genesis-nav-menu a {
                                                                                	color: #fff;
                                                                                }
                                                                                in reply to: Introduction & Granchild Theme #14823

                                                                                Customer

                                                                                    Try changing the padding on line 2064 in your css to this –

                                                                                    .header-image .site-header .widget-area {
                                                                                    	padding: 54px 0 40px;
                                                                                    }

                                                                                    It’s the widget area that has padding on the top and bottom (which is what is creating the space), so if you increase it, it will push it down some.

                                                                                    in reply to: Slider #14770

                                                                                    Customer

                                                                                      The size really depends on what you want. You can use the regular Slider widget, and that size is 1140px by default. The images on the demo are around 1140px width and 400px height…..but of course you can make this any size you want.

                                                                                      in reply to: Full width slider – css help #14764

                                                                                        If you can setup a separate temporary account I can check it out and see how ti get it set up.

It’s the Slider Plugin you are using that doesn’t center or align in the middle itself which is where a lot of people get confused. I haven’t seen a good way to make the plugin center, and that is due to the way its coded.

                                                                                          The reason the slider “appears” centered inside of the regular “Slider” area is because the regular slider widget is 1140px wide and is always centered. The full width slider wide widget area is also centered, but it has no width. When you add something that doesn’t center inside of a full width area it will either left align or right align. The only thing you could try is adding a large width to the slider wide (or the regular slider widget) so the slider plugin will appear centered when viewed in a browser. The only other option is to try a different plugin that actually centers on its own.

                                                                                            Yes it’s possible but you would have to make customizations to your home.php file since it’s basically a template. I’m not sure exactly how to do it as it would take some time coming up with some code to create this, but I would do a Google search to see if anything out there pops up. There are usually some tutorials out there that already have the work done.

                                                                                            If you don’t find anything, you could try and experiment combining your blog template file with the home.php (copy the blog template into your child theme folder). If you’re not familiar with php, then I wouldn’t do this, as it will require some basic knowledge/understanding of how it works.

                                                                                            The easiest way I can think of is to use the Genesis Featured Posts widget, which you can add into one of the widget areas. That widget adds the posts to your homepage (or any page) without any code.

                                                                                            in reply to: How Do I Respond to the Helpful People on this Forum? #14706

                                                                                                Yes the homepage widgets only show up on the homepage. They work just like widgets that show up on the sidebar (just like any other theme) except these particular widgets show up on the homepage only.

                                                                                                Each home widget has a specific place that it shows up on the homepage. They all show up in order, with their own specific colors. Here is a guide that Wes made to show exactly where each which widget is located – https://appfinite.com/topic/epik-widgets-guide/

                                                                                                So once you add a widget into any of the widget areas, then that widget and that widget section will show up on the homepage. Keep in mind, ONLY that widget and the section it is located in will show up if you add something inside of it. So if you don’t add anything in the other widget areas, then they won’t show up….only the widget areas that you are using will show up. So that means you have full control over which widget section gets added on your homepage. The entire homepage is “Plug and Play“.

                                                                                                Example, if you only want the Slider widget area, and the Welcome widget area to show up then you should only add widget/content inside of those widget areas and only they will show up on your homepage.

                                                                                                You probably already figured this out, but I thought I’d post this just in case anyone else was curious.

                                                                                                Hope this helps.

The easy way is to make the Home Feature 2 (hf2) have a min-height so it is equally as long as hf1 and hf3. If you add this to your hf2 css on line 1262 it would fix it –

                                                                                                  .home-feature-2 {
                                                                                                      background: #f2f2f2;
                                                                                                      float: left;
                                                                                                      min-height: 1308px;
                                                                                                      text-align: center;
                                                                                                      width: 33.3%;
                                                                                                  }

                                                                                                  Adding min-height: 1308px; pushes it down to be even with the others. Now this is the easiest way. The hard way is to go through and adjust hf1, hf2, hf3 margin and padding for the bottom of the widgets. For example, each widget has a margin/padding which adds space, and since your hf1 and hf3 are longer the hf2 gets left behind (I know you’re already aware of this).

                                                                                                  .home-feature-1 .widget {
                                                                                                      margin: 0 0 60px;
                                                                                                      overflow: hidden;
                                                                                                  }

                                                                                                  You also have to consider the .featured-content .entry code (around line 1500).

                                                                                                  Personally, I’d take the easy route and just add a minimum height for hf2 and have it adjust in different browser sizes if needed, then I wouldn’t have to adjust everything else.

If you do a Google search for “how to add Google Analytics to Genesis” you’ll also see a lot of tutorials that show how to do it –
